The Role

 

We are looking for  a Writing skills trainer (Project Design and Management) that will focus on the following key themes:

  • Understanding project cycle management and key project documents guiding project design and its implementation.
  • Understanding key principles of developing concise and informative concept notes, project proposals, and reports.
  • Understanding Theory of Change, developing clear logical frameworks, and using them in project management.
  • Designing results in frameworks with SMART indicators.
  • Understanding and designing risks matrix and using it in project implementation.

The selected consultant is expected to deliver 2 four-day in-person trainings followed by 1 months of practical assignments for both groups with feedback and coaching on the skills as per this ToR. The in-person workshops will be conducted in Anbar (Ramadi) and Diyala (location TBC) respectively. Each training group will include up to 15 individuals with varied skills.

The training plan should include a combination of presentatations and practical exercises. The practical part of the training (1 month) should consists of the consultant giving the trainees practical assignments and provide each trainee with feedback. The consultant should count with 4 assignments (one per week), which can be delivered individually or in pairs.  At the end of the assignment, the consultant will assess the progress of each trainee. The training and training materials will be developed in English and the training will be also delivered in English.

 

What we are looking for

 

Our next Writing skills trainer (Project Design and Management) will require:

Training and facilitation skills

- The advanced skills in project/programme cycle management

- Fluency in English

- Proven track record of developing project related documentation – concept notes, proposals, reports, results frameworks and other relevant documents

- Ability to travel to training locations

- Knowledge of project/program cycle management

- Familiarity with interventions aiming to end gender-based violence in Iraq

- Familiarity with Oxfam’s mission; adherence to the organizational code of conduct and safe programming principles

- Familiarity with various donor regulations and requirements.

How to apply 

 

Interested individuals, with relevant experience and skills based on the ToR, can submit their Expression of Interest (EOI), including the following:

 

  1. Cover letter of no more than 1 page introducing the consultant and intention to deliver the assignment. The cover letter should also indicate the consultants’ availability for the proposed period.
  2. The technical proposal should provide details on proposed methodology responding to the ToR and the deliverables; explain capacity in line with the competencies required for the assignment, including 3 references that can attest to the consultant’s technical competencies; CV of the individual directly involved in the assignment; and 2 examples of documents developed by the consultant relevant for this assignment. A technical proposal should not be longer than 7 pages, excluding annexes.
  3. The financial proposal includes a one-page budget of the offer, covering all major anticipated costs. An accompanying work plan must be submitted too.
  4. Statement on the willingness to follow Oxfam’s Code of Conduct and guidance regarding safe programming.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and their technical competencies checked before signing a service contract.
