Snr Operations Associate, Temporary Appointment- 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities
¿ Manage and maintain the information used in the Cash Based Interventions (CBI) on behalf of the Operations Support Unit and the Multi Functional Team (MFT) of the Bureau.
¿ Develop statistical and detailed reports based on the standard reporting formats and ad-hoc reports, charts and tables as required.
¿ Maintain relationships with country operations and other units in the bureau to facilitate the flow of information about Cash Based Interventions (CBI).
¿ Support in the improvement of the quality of processes and tools used in the CBI programming.
¿ Contribute to the preparation of plans, reports, project documents and submissions for donor funding by drafting and reviewing text and preparing budgets.
¿ Prepare background information of use in discussions between the Country Operations, Bureau, and HQ Divisions.
¿ Keep abreast of political and socioeconomic events that may affect the situation of persons of concern (PoCs) in the countries/operations under AoR and provide
regular reports and relevant information on developments regarding the situation of PoCs as appropriate.
¿ Synthetize information published by other colleagues such as the communication officers, reporting officers and other public sources to facilitate the Operations Officers analysis of political and social developments impacting on UNHCR¿s operations.
¿ File important documentation and communication pertaining to the unit¿s scope of work in repositories duly authorized by the organization.
¿ Provide support to improve effective communication and facilitate the sharing of best practices amongst countries/operations and keep track of up-dated reports and CBI fact-sheets of Country and Regional Operations.
¿ Participate in intra-unit, and inter-unit meetings, and with other external entities, when invited, and ensure draft minutes are submitted to the participants.
¿ Perform other duties as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required
The ideal candidate will possess the qualification and experiences listed below:
¿ Education: Completion of secondary education with post-secondary. training/certificate in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Law or related fields.
¿ Work Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant job experience.
¿ Data management experience, preferable in CBI context. Excellent knowledge of computer software and database applications.
¿ Advanced IT skills in MS Office especially in Word and Excel
¿ Excellent judgment with proven ability to deal with complex, interrelated issues and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
¿ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and ability to establish an enabling working environment.
¿ Strong reporting skills and the ability to deliver quality results on time are required.
¿ Proficiency in English and working knowledge of French is mandatory.

Desirable Key Competencies
¿ Training in programme design, supervision, monitoring & evaluation.
¿ Extensive experience in International Relations.
¿ Knowledge of UNHCR's operational rules and procedures.
¿ Direct experience as Programme or Operations Associate is an advantage
¿ Knowledge of, and familiarity with operations in Africa and its range of challenges and issues from political to humanitarian perspectives is beneficial.
¿ Experience of Cash Transfers Programming in humanitarian and development context.
¿ Has experience or basic knowledge of humanitarian policy and emergency preparedness
¿ Has participated in implementing technical programs;
¿ Has implemented programmes with increased level of responsibility;
