ICRAF through its host institution in Peru the International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Tree Domestication Technical – Research Assistant, to provide research, logistical and administrative support to the following ICRAF research activities: FuenteS (STC – Peru), Tress-in-Farms project (IKI) and Genebank.

 

The position: The Research Assistant position will be based in Lima, Peru and will report to ICRAF Regional Manager and Landscape & Climate Change Scientist.  

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

·     Provide research support to other ICRAF research activities in Peru, with emphasis on, but not restricted to, the Peruvian Amazon, with emphasis on FTA FP1 activities

·         Provide logistical support to other ICRAF research activities in Ucayali, Peru, and neighboring regions

·         Safeguard monitor and report on conditions of ICRAF assets in Pucallpa and provide information to the ICRAF Regional Finance Officer on areas of her/his competence.

·         Serve as immediate contact point for ICRAF partners based in Ucayali, including local INIA staff

·         Represent the Regional Coordinator and other ICRAF scientists in local meetings in Ucayali and neighboring regions.

·         In general, contribute to fulfilling the mission and objectives of ICRAF, as required by immediate supervisor



Requirements

What are we looking for?

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field

·         At least 1 year of experience required in similar position

·         Proficiency in relevant software packages (Microsoft Office)

·         Intermediate knowledge of database work

·         Excellent command of the English and Spanish languages, both written and spoken

·         Able to travel frequently inside Peru (Pucallpa department)
