Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a highly qualified Finance Assistant (Accountant) to join our team in Kyiv.
About the job
You will be part of the accounting unit in the Accounting department, ensuring compliance with Ukrainian legislation and reporting requirements. You involves supporting and implementing accounting policies and standard operating procedures, providing on-the-job support, and building capacity of the project and support staff. Additionally, You will provide technical support to Accountants at Area and Base offices across Ukraine.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Accounting and Compliance
- Support in checking, calculating and processing the payments of business trips for DRC staff, maintenance of advances to employees.
- Checking DRC Program activities related documents for compliance with Ukrainian legislation.
- Checking the availability of primary documents.
- Collection of documents and preparation documents for submission to the archive.
- Receiving inbound documentation for accounting processing.
- Control of the authenticity of the necessary documents from supplier, post it in BAF system and control supplier information in BAF system.
- Maintaining, timely entering transactions, posting primary documents, timely updating information in “BAF” software, to do posting the bank statements; expense reports; inventory write off.
- Accounting of property, liabilities (accounting for fixed assets, inventory, etc.)
- Support the registration of transactions and organisation of document flow in the accounting system.
- Ensure compliance with the procedure for maintaining travel documents and checking the relevance of reports.
- Ensure day-to-day accounting functions, including payments verifications, entries into BAF and accounts management and reconciliations monthly.
Additional tasks
- On request perform any other additional duties assigned by the supervisor(s) to allow the organization to function optimally.

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 year’s work experience in the field of finance/accounting, preferably in an INGO. Moreover, we also expect the following:
- University degrees (bachelor’s in Accounting / Finance / Audit).
- Advanced proficiency in Ms Office and BAF.
- Ukrainian: Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing.
- English: Intermediate and above is desirable.

- Contract: Full-time position upon successful completion of the three-month probation period.
