THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO FAO PERSONNEL ONLY
The scope of this Call for Expressions of Interest is to find qualified FAO staff members to support L2/L3 countries in the above functional area.
Qualified staff will be placed on an Internal Surge Team (IST). IST will enable the deployment of essential personnel to lead and support country-based emergency response on a short-term basis. These surge roles are designed to provide a punctual, time-bound support to country response and help establish longer-term mechanisms and processes.
• Support deployments are considered for staff members already in service of the Organization.

• Interested employees will be required to discuss upfront with their managers, who are encouraged to release employees to support, and to upload the signed pre-release agreement form at the time of the application.
• Selected candidates will receive a notification of their inclusion in the IST and from that moment they might be called for a surge support at any time, and in line with the duration of their contract.
• Selected candidates will be released of their function for a period which may vary according to country offices needs not exceeding three months, after which they return to their normal functions.
• Surge support must be provided in person, candidates in the IST will be required to have the following documentation ready in case of upcoming mission (Valid passport, Laissez-passer, SSAFE training).
• Staff members deployed will add the surge support as a separate objective in PEMS, and the supervisor of the surge assignment will be added as an ‘Additional Supervisor’ in the PEMS Year-Mid/End Appraisal phase. As such, this valuable experience will be documented in the performance evaluation of staff members.

Organizational Setting
FAO country offices, headed by an FAO Representative, are assisting governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition.
Reporting Lines
Staff members deployed for surge support report to the FAO Representative.
Technical Focus
The Information Management Officer supports country offices through the provision of support on data analysis, mapping and visualization in addition to managing the country level evaluations (Country Cluster Performance Monitoring) and the website and providing ad hoc support.
Key Results
Research, technical analysis and project related services to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services.
Key Functions
• Researches and analyses technical, food and nutrition security assessments, emergency response, policy related and/or funding/project relateddata and information to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services;
• Produces various reports, proposals, programme/project documents, position papers, policy briefs, financial/donor reports as well as criticalinformation for inclusion in governing body reports etc;
• Participates in project teams, collaborates in project and programme formulation and provides technical and/or administrative support to ongoingoperational emergency and recovery projects;
• Liaises with FAO technical offices as well as other UN Organizations to obtain and/or exchange information regarding food and nutrition securityassessments, emergency and recovery activities and other related issues;
• Provides technical/administrative support and promotes best practices to Decentralized Offices;
• Monitors and provides support to resource mobilization activities including corporate appeals, donor macro grants, Central Emergency ResponseFund (CERF)/ Special Fund for Emergency Rehabilitation Activities (SFERA) submissions, annual appeals and mid-year reviews, maintains informationand prepares related reports;
• Maintains and updates information systems, databases and web pages;
• Performs other duties.
Specific Functions
• Supports the development and implementation of the IM strategy and a work plan to upgrade country information management (e.g. interactive dashboard, online 5Ws database, mapping, etc.), collaborating with the Digitalization and Informatics Division (CSI) on IT-related matters, as needed.
• Produces a variety of various infographics products, data, statistics and reports as well as input for documents and web pages (e.g. gFSC newsletter, country updates, etc.).
• Collaborates in the development of improved/updated tools, systems, processes and databases, especially for livelihoods interventions for the in-depth analysis to identify gaps for advocacy and communication.
• Supports the capacity building to perform effective information management by supporting the country level clusters in their efforts produce the 'minimum reporting requirements' (gap analysis, partner's presence and monthly dashboards).
• Contributes to the development of IM training as required and delivery of online coaching on IM technical issues to the field IM when requested.
• Monitors the production of country level information products (establishment and management of a tracking sheet) and provides support as required on IM.
• Updates the Information Management (IM) compendium/toolkit as needed (templates and guidance).
• Supports the management of the cluster's website, including posting updates, liaising with technical support and providing support for country clusters in using the website.
• Provides on demand IM backstopping field deployments for Information Management officers.
• Supports the production of IM products for key events (donors' meeting, DoEs, GPM, etc.).
• Performs any other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
• Experience related to programming, planning and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, including experience in developing countries, especially in countries that are vulnerable to disaster or other emergency risks.
