Similar to the UN Secretariat and UNESCO, FAO also utilizes a strict quota system. The main difference between the secretariat and FAO is that FAO also utilizes the term non-representation, which refers to member countries without any staff member.

  

United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) encourages applications from qualified nationals of non-represented and under-represented member countries as well as qualified women. This means that knowing how your country is represented at the UN agency is a strong reason for applying.
