Regional IT Specialist

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified IT specialist for Asia & Europe Regional Office, who can effectively provide the IT supports within the regional office and provide technical assistance to the countries.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

The position is responsible for providing IT leadership in the region and technical assistance to the country operations on IT and digital ambitions as per the region’s strategic plan in coordination with Regional Head of Support Services. Regional IT Specialist is also responsible for the provision of IT standard guideline implementation as well as leading IT support to DRC operation in regional office and to ensure reliable hardware, software, backup, and networking support throughout the locations. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

 

Technical Support:

  • Ensure that the best practice of ICT standard is maintained, and proper standard guidelines are followed.
  • Review the existing hardware and software in usage for its authenticity and suitability to meet the requirement of operations and provide overview to management for required upgrade and changes.
  • Develop and maintain smooth IT service and operations including network, printing, troubleshooting, ERP technical issues etc.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and support for selection and installation, use and maintenance of IT & communication equipment including being a member of procurement committee.  
  • Support RHoSS to develop IT systems and equipment usage SOP for and ensure such SOPs are respected and followed throughout the program.  

Data Security/Backup, Server Operations and Administration, Compliance and Awareness:  

  • Monitor all DRC IT infrastructure in the RO to ensure they are fully compliant with DRC IT security standard.
  • Ensure data backup system is established and followed throughout the operations.
  • Ensure SharePoint and OneDrive is well set up and fully functional in line with DRC’s requirement of online data backup.
  • Oversee the accounting and control of the IT systems including the internet and record all technical issues and its resolution.  
  • Sensitize users to maintain an IT secure environment and related SOPs clarifications.
  • Conduct training and induction session to the users on care and protection of DRC IT equipment, basic IT skills and DRC guidelines.
  • Responsible for all aspects of daily operations to ensure high level of system availability to meet business requirements.
  • Align and coordinate with Global IT Service & Operations on common infrastructure and systems.
  • Manage IT services delivered from IT staff in compliance with IT security and data protection requirements.
  • Engaging with regional and global teams via collaboration forums to influence DRC overall IT capabilities.
  • Coordinate with Global IT Service and Operations for rolling out the functional IT support systems including software and hardware.

Digitalization, Digital Platform and Digital Literacy:

  • Analyze the digitalization of business processes, recommend adjustments where applicable, and define recommendations for the utilization of collaborative platforms in DRC.
  • Propose IT solutions to automate and streamline the daily processes and operations and coordinate with HQ IT Business Partner for operationalizing.
  • Implement digital literacy-related initiative in coordination with CO IT based on the digital literacy framework.
  • Lead full utilization of collaborative platform (SharePoint) within RO and in the COs including design, maintenance and support on SharePoint sites.

Engagement and Contribution:

  • Participate and contribute in DRC Global IT forums and platforms as and when needed in coordination with RHoSS.
  • Coordinate the team of IT professionals in the COs.
  • Support in proper utilization of IT licenses including routine reconciliation of licenses for cost effectiveness.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in relevant IT position, experience in the NGO sector is an asset. Also proven experience in SharePoint design, maintenance and support. Moreover, we also expect the following:

REQUIRED

  • Proven experience in running a Local Area Network, network configuration including NAT and routers.
  • Proven experience with cloud infrastructure (i.e. MS Azure).
  • Knowledge of the IP protocol and its concepts, server configuration including but not limited to installation, running, backup and patching.
  • Good communication and organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • IT Security and Data Protection understanding at advanced level (IS/NIST frameworks).

EDUCATION

  • Minimum university degree in Computer Science or IT Engineering or similar sector with IT focus.
  • Relevant certification on Microsoft’s product is added advantage.

Contract length: 12 Months (Possibilities of extension based on performance & fund availability)

Band: G1 (Non-Management)

Duty Station: Bangkok, Thailand

Preferable Start date: 01 January 2025
