National Consultant - Design and Development of Processes of Agro Processing Center

Background

building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

The international consultant will be reporting to the Head of Office and will be supported by the Programme Specialist
(WEE) for contract management and contract payment and validation of all deliverables

Duties and Responsibilities

Below are the specific deliverables:
Task 1: Finalized business plan
Task 2: Clear Road map to implement the Business Plan
Task 3: List and specifications of appropriate equipments for processing and packaging equipments suitable for the
identified value chains
Task 4: A package of Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) to support manufacturing processes, quality management
and compliance with international standards

Task 5: Standardized MoU and contract templates for possible partnerships with development partners
Task 6: Database for suppliers and agro-processors
Task 7: Actionable database developed on internal and international market opportunities, and access facilitated to
internal and international markets.
Task 8: Launch of the Center coordinated with Ma Nyande and UN Women
Task 9: Contract wrap-up report provided.

This is a home-based consultancy, with virtual and in-person meetings with UN Women, Ma Nyande or other
stakeholders as required and/or requested by UN Women in collaboration with Ma Nyande.
The consultant is required to work 90 full days with frequent travels to the operational site. The payment is a
lumpsum and covers all costs.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
• Strong knowledge on gender equality and women's rights issues, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Agro
business development.
• Proven record of institutional strengthening and capacity building.
• Strong writing and communication skills especially local languages in sierra Leone.
• Knowledge and understanding of UN system and familiarity with inter-governmental processes.
• Strong IT skills, including databases, extranet and office software packages.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

Required Skills and Experience

Education and Certification:
• Master’s degree in social science, research, gender, international development, or other relevant field; PhD is
an advantage.
Experience:
• Minimum 7 years of experience for designing and developing agro business processes.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience WEE programming and institutional capacity development
• Good understanding of ethical considerations and safety guidelines in working with vulnerable groups.
Languages:
• Fluency in English is required
