Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

The overall purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Finance Team Leader, the Finance Assistant will manage the day-to-day financial functions of the office.       

Main responsibilities:

  • Creation of journals in Dynamics, registration of cash transactions and other necessary packages in Dynamics
  • Daily accounting (bookkeeping) according to DRC financial handbook
  • Monitoring that advances and deposits are issued on the basis of appropriate approval and are calculated in accordance with DRC procedures
  • Monitoring that the description of expenses in vouchers, cash book, journals and their general quality corresponds to the internal instructions of the DRC
  • Preparation of entries in ERP system Dynamics –365
  • Ensuring attachement of correct documentation to Dynamics Entries
  • Prepare monthly cash counts
  • Tracking that scanned vouchers are regularly sent to the archive
  • Monitoring that internal and donor guidelines and procedures for DRC procurement related to conflicts of interest, as well as the international code of conduct are followed.
  • Monitoring that all documentation is prepared in a transparent and accountable manner
  • Ensuring a proper storage system for financial documents
  • Daily provision of scanned vouchers and their storage on the server
  • Support with the audit of each project
  • Active participation in the harmonization of operational work between regional and base offices: exchange of ideas, creation of tools, updating of instructions, etc.
  • Providing other financial support in the office and preparing reports at the request of the manager

About you:

Required experience and competencies:

  • 1-2 years of experience in the financial sector
  • Experience working in an NGO is desirable
  • Higher education in the relevant field or equivalent (finance, economics, management).
  • Microsoft Office, good/advanced knowledge of Excel, experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian.
  • Intermediate level of English.

Contract length: open-ended contract after 3-month probation period.

Start date: As soon as possible.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
