UNDP in Lesotho supports Basotho to build resilience at every level to help achieve long-term Sustainable Development Goals. We provide assistance in the following focus areas: poverty reduction; promotion of transparent, accountable and effective governance at all levels; and managing environmental changes by adopting an integrated approach to sustainable management of natural resources. Our collaboration and support to the Government and people of Lesotho is governed by the Country Programme Document 2019 -2023; Lesotho United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF 2019 – 2023) based on the priority needs of the country expressed in the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDPII 2018/19 – 2022/23.

A number of key results have been achieved and the Country intends to build on lessons learnt over last years of the Country programme to leverage partnerships and networks and bring to scale ongoing programmes and projects. A robust and responsive operations team is critical to the realization of this strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of Key Functions:
1.   Implementation of UN Country Team DoA ICT management systems and strategies 
2.   Effective functioning of the UN Country Team DoA hardware and software packages 
3.   Support to UN Country Team DoA networks administration  
4.   Provision of administrative support  
5.   Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
   

1. Supports implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, focusing on achievement of the following results: 

•   Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the relevant agency CO technology environment. 
•   Provision of inputs to the DoA administrative business processes mapping and
•   Implementation of the internal standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
•   Provision of inputs to preparation of results oriented Do IT workplans.

2. Ensures effective functioning of the DoA common hardware and software packages, focusing on the achievement of the following results: 

•   Performance of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and routine repairs. 
•   Assistance in the installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades 
•   Assistance in upgrading patch and anti-virus programs on a timely basis. 
•   Monitoring of file server traffic, usage and performance on a frequent and regular basis. 
•   Support to users in backing up and restoring their files, as well as in virus detection, removal and prevention.
 

3. Supports networks administration, focusing on achievement of the following results: 
•   Troubleshooting and monitoring of network on a daily basis to ensure a stable and  responsive network environment. 
•   Response to user needs and questions regarding network access. 
•   Implement backup and restoration procedures for local drives. Maintenance of backup logs. Assistance to organization of off-site storage of backups.  
•   Networks administration support as required


4. Provides administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results: 

•   Maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. 
•   Maintenance of a library of ICT/DaO IT related reference materials.  
•   Development of Common ICT workplan and budget
•   Maintenance of the inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Common Services Procurement Unit. 
•   Provision of ICT support to UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes and key events     
•   Maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. 
•   Maintenance of a library of ICT/DaO IT related reference materials.  
•   Development of Common ICT workplan and budget
•   Provision of ICT support to UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes and key events      
•   Maintenance of the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials. 
•   Extraction of data from various sources. 
•   Ensure of Routine backup system for the data safety

5. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on achievement of the following results:

•   Participation and assistance in the organization of training for the CO staff on ICT issues. 
•   Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice. 
•   Development and maintenance of UNCT knowledge management system – i.e the development of UNCT and Technical Working Groups workspace for collaboration

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

High School education with relevant certifications in software management, information technologies, communications engineering is required. University Degree in Computer Science would be desirable, but it is not a requirement. 

Experience:

5 years of relevant working experience, in areas of end-user support, network administration and systems support or bachelors degree with 2 years of relevant working experience. 

•           Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) is an asset

•           Experience in supporting PCs, LAN equipment, Wi-Fi networks, printers, scanners;

•            Knowledge of Microsoft Windows network infrastructure and MS Online products;

•            Experience of Microsoft Windows domain and Active Directory support;

Language

Sesotho and English
