OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Country Office Support Units have been established in the organisational structure to provide support for Managers and staff to fully assume their responsibilities in the GSM environment and to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules and regulations on all administrative and financial matters and transactions in the context of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.Within the CSU unit, the Operations Support and Logistics team is responsible for a pool of WHO vehicles and other transportation medium ensuring efficient use of resources and coordinating field travelto the regions across the country.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Officer, the incumbent performs the following duties :-Drives office vehicles to provide transportation of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required;Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumptions, oil changes, greasing, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education or equivalence trainingand valid driving license
Desirable: Basic mechanics certificate and first aid training would be an advantage

Experience

Essential: of three years driving experience as a driver; clean safe driving record.
Desirable: Experience in driving within WHO or other UN agency an asset. Experience in Oracle-based or other ERP systems an asset

Skills

Ability to read, write and understand instructions in the working languageKnowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country and skills in minor vehicle repair.An ability to write a concise and official report of incidents.Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions.Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor vehicle repairs.Ability to work in a team

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 7,610 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
