Overall purpose of the role:

DRC works with a number of local organisations in Myanmar, some through remote engagement. This Remote Partnerships Manager role is designed to support DRC's ongoing work and commitment to Localisation.

Geographic scope: Yangon (Head Office)

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Responsibilities:

Strengthening Partnership Tools and Processes

The RPM will support the development and strengthening of tools and guidelines that will support the quality of DRC’s partnership programming in Myanmar across sectors, such as the partner capacity assessment tool, and other quality monitoring / strengthening tools. In this area of the role, the RPM will work closely with DRC Myanmar technical coordinators, regional technical coordinators, and DRC HQ’s Civil Society Engagement Unit.

Partner Engagement / Management

The​ ​​Remote Partnership ​Manager will provide close support to the Head of Programmes in the coordination and management of ongoing humanitarian programming through remotely managed partnerships.

Partner Mapping / Coordination / Fundraising

The RPM will also undertake partner scoping, and support in the development of new partnership and programming opportunities. This role will include extensive engagement with partners, as well as building strong relationships with partner organisations and other relevant stakeholders, including humanitarian agencies and networks. The RPM will also be responsible for leading on the development of proposals for dedicated capacity building projects, and for coordinating inputs from partners and DRC staff for proposals.

Capacity Strengthening

The role will (in conjunction with relevant staff) ensure the delivery of capacity building to partners, based on a capacity development plan that has been developed.  The RPM may also deliver some remote or in-person trainings to partner organisations, in conjunction with other DRC staff or external resources, depending on the nature of the training. The RPM will engage with partners under DRC’s Civil Society Engagement project to support partner-led, sustainable capacity strengthening.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • At least 5 years of experience with humanitarian organizations.
  • At least 4 years of experience in working in partnership with civil society organizations and community-based organizations.
  • Relevant previous experience in capacity development, including designing capacity development plans.
  • Experience in conducting consultation processes with civil society and national NGOs.
  • Solid experience in participatory approaches and facilitation skills,
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills in English.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong people management skills

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • Degree in relevant area

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Professional fluency in English
  • Proficiency in any Myanmar local languages will be considered an advantage

Key stakeholders:

  • DRC partners and civil society actors.
  • Other INGOs working in partnership.
  • External coordination bodies (clusters, etc.)
  • DRC finance, supply chain, grants and MEAL units.

Conditions

Contract: The role will be on a DRC staff contract (duration 6 months – likely extended up to 1 year or beyond depending on funding availability), with grading in line with the responsibilities. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates. The position is placed in Employment Band F-management.
