Context

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) www.icrc.org responds to worldwide humanitarian needs through its global network of delegations. The ICRC is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.

The Resource Mobilization Division (REM) is in charge of coordinating resource mobilization efforts across the institution to engage with multiple stakeholders ranging from donor governments, multilateral institutions, National Societies, the private sector including corporates, foundations, high-net-worth individual (HNWI), ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI) and the general public to maintain a sustainable stream of quality income for ICRC’s humanitarian operations worldwide. REM is one of the four divisions within the Department of Mobilisation, movement and partnership (MMP).
 

Relationships

Internally, interacts with all the REM division and more specifically with REM managers and other Associates.

Purpose

The REM Support Associate is part of the REM Support unit. She/he plays an key role in implementing and managing a pool of other associates (we do have many associates working in different other units). She/He will also take part in the execution/support of other key division activities such organisation of Social Events, support of Division or unit meetings and ad-hoc projects.

General Duties

•    Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
•    Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
•    Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
•    Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
•    Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
•    Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
•    Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
•    May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary
 

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

•    Management of the Pool of Associates 

o    Accountable for the effective management of REM’s pool of associates to deliver support to the division according to evolving needs and priorities

o    On a yearly basis, establish REM’s main priorities for support and associates’ profiles required

o    Coordinate and prioritize requests for Associates’ support

o    Manage an overview of the associates’ interests, profiles and availability

o    Manage a mechanism by which there is an effective matching of priorities and resources

o    Oversee and optimize the recruitment cycle of associates 

o    Participate to the recruitment of other associates 

 

•    Member of the Pool of Associates 
o    On the top of managing the pool of associates, the candidate will also be part of this pool and therefore will also be assigned to projects or activities for other REM units.

 

•    Other accountabilities
o    Led the delivery of REM Events by planning, defining and organising them (Own the Social event calendar, support division/Units management, enable Workshops, etc…)
o    Provide support to the management of the REM Support Unit (meeting organisation, minutes, etc..) 
 

Education required

•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.
•    Knowledge of humanitarian and/or development work is required. 
•    Understanding of multilateral processes and global humanitarian fora is an asset.
 

Additional information

•    Location: Geneva

•    Type of contract: Traineeship - 12 months duration

•    Starting date: May 2024

•    Working rate: 100%

•    Gross monthly salary: 3’840 CHF
