Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for new colleagues to join our roving Emergency, Protection, Assistance and Coordination Team (EMPACT), a multifunctional team of senior Emergency Response Specialists deployable within 72 hours to support DRC Country Offices respond to emergency situations. DRCs EMPACT members need to show independence and determination to bring rapid and timely emergency programming to crises and to support country operations in the scale up, redesign and roll out of activities. Roving Emergency Advisors need to promote excellence in their field, promote a standards and rights driven approach to programming and operations and go above and beyond typical requirements in often unstable and pressured environments.
 

About the job

Your main duties and responsibilities will vary with each deployment but may include:

  • Lead development of partnership emergency response strategy (or partnership component) and maintain responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of this strategy 
  • Support countries with embedding emergency preparedness with partners and/or Partnership/Localization Strategies;
  • Support countries with delivering capacity building for DRC and DRC partners before or in emergency or for emergency contexts;
  • Support countries with emergency programming proposals to include meaningful and equitable partner engagement including supporting or leading joint proposal development processes
  • Support project coordination and implementation of current projects involving DRC partners, provide day-to-day mentoring to Partnership Unit team and DRC Partners to ensure projects are implemented ensuring compliance to and alignment with DRC processes and Core Humanitarian Standards.
  • Ensure DRC partner compliance is adhered to, troubleshoot and ensure lessons learned and best practice
  • Line management of partnerships team in DRC
  • Consortium management (for non-partnership deployments)

 

About you

We are looking for experienced staff to work at the point of delivery with a hands-on, flexible, and collaborative approach. It is also important that you understand the humanitarian architecture, are dedicated to the humanitarian imperative, and committed to helping and engaging with the affected population.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar position that includes partnership engagement and coordination and/or consortia management in emergency contexts including 3 years staff management experience
  • Knowledge of key donor regulations, procedures and requirements specifically for partnerships (UN, EC, USG, etc.).
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities and ability to delegate
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player as well a good communicator across stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills in English, including ability to present complex technical information in a simple way and deliver capacity building
  • Proven ability to live and work in an unstable, insecure environment
  • Knowledge of CHS and humanitarian principles and PSEAH
  • Experience in contracts will be an advantage

We offer

Contract length: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Band: F1 Management (step depends on level of experience)

Designation of Duty Station: Roving

Start date: Earliest possible
