IWMI is a non-profit, scientific research organization. Our mission is to provide evidence-based solutions to sustainably manage water and land resources for food security, people’s livelihoods and the environment in developing countries. We are at the forefront of solving this great global challenge. Our 280-people strong team, works from our headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and our 13 offices in Asia and Africa, to find innovative ways to use water sustainably to grow crops and reduce poverty.
IWMI’s Vision is ‘a water-secure world’. We target water and land management challenges faced by poor communities in developing countries, and through this we contribute towards the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of reducing poverty and hunger, and maintaining a sustainable environment. IWMI is a member of CGIAR (the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research} and our vision and goals are compliant with the goals of CGIAR.
How do we work?
