Welcome to the career page of ChildFund at Impactpool!
ChildFund International is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) working in over 30 countries to help deprived, excluded, and vulnerable children have the capacity to improve their lives and become young adults, parents, and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities.
ChildFund is committed to child-centered change that leads to healthy and secure infants, educated and confident children, and skilled and involved youth. Since 1938, ChildFund has worked for the well-being of children by supporting locally-led initiatives in child protection, health and nutrition, education, micro-enterprise development, early child development, and psychosocial assistance that strengthen impoverished families and communities to help break the cycle of poverty and protect children’s rights. ChildFund currently reaches over 19.7 millions children and family members through comprehensive programs in communities around the globe (annual report 2015).
ChildFund is about placing children's experience at the center of our policy and practice. We work to address children's rights and needs across multiple areas, from education to health to nutrition and more. ChildFund works in partnership with children and their communities to create lasting and meaningful change by supporting long-term community development and promoting children’s rights.
OVERCOMING CHILD POVERTY
ChildFund believes that every child has the right not to live in poverty so ChildFund programs are designed to deliver real, tangible and lasting improvements to the lives of children. ChildFund reduces child poverty by:
- Building assets: in areas such as education, healthcare, food security, livelihoods, water and sanitation.
- Strengthening protection: by reducing the risks that children face and providing relief when disasters strike.
- Amplifying the voice of children: supporting children’s right to be heard, and encouraging them to express their views.
- Enabling people to claim their rights: by supporting them to become agents of change in their own communities.
CHILDFUND IN ACTION
ChildFund works with communities over the long-term – usually 10-12 years minimum. Programs are designed in consultation with local leaders, governments, parents and children. Working together, projects are implemented to improve education, health, livelihoods, nutrition, food security, child protection, water and sanitation.
Typical activities include building and equipping schools, teacher training, health worker training, management of common childhood illnesses, immunisation programs, construction of water systems, health and hygiene training, HIV and AIDS prevention, capacity building for government personnel, crop diversification, improved livestock management, farmer training, youth vocational training, micro-finance, distribution of essential materials (such as seeds, tools and livestock) and rights realisation initiatives.
ChildFund is present and responds rapidly in times of humanitarian crisis, and ChildFund’s central concern for children is evident in its child protection programs, early childhood care, children’s clubs, youth groups, child participation, sport and recreation opportunities.
All activities are monitored closely and regularly evaluated to assess effectiveness. Funds are applied according to strict budgets that are carefully managed and all country programs are independently audited.
