Welcome to the career page of ChildFund Australia at Impactpool!
ChildFund Australia is an international development agency that works in partnership with children and their communities to create lasting and meaningful change by supporting long-term community development and promoting children’s rights.
ChildFund Australia directly implements child-focused development programs in Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, and works in conjunction with the ChildFund Alliance global partnership to deliver programs in countries throughout Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Programs are funded by sponsorship contributions, grants, donations and other revenue. ChildFund Australia has an extensive child sponsorship program with more than 64,000 children in 23 countries sponsored by Australians. ChildFund Australia’s goals are to deliver quality development programs that are respectful, responsive and effective in eliminating or reducing poverty for children, their families and communities.
ChildFund believes that every child has the right not to live in poverty so ChildFund programs are designed to deliver real, tangible and lasting improvements to the lives of children. ChildFund reduces child poverty by:
Building assets: in areas such as education, healthcare, food security, livelihoods, water and sanitation.
Strengthening protection: by reducing the risks that children face and providing relief when disasters strike.
Amplifying the voice of children: supporting children’s right to be heard, and encouraging them to express their views.
Enabling people to claim their rights: by supporting them to become agents of change in their own communities.
ChildFund Australia’s vision is a global community, free from poverty, where children are protected and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
To fulfil the mission, ChildFund Australia works in partnership with children and their communities to create lasting and meaningful change by supporting long-term community development and promoting children's rights.
ChildFund works with communities over the long-term – usually 10-12 years minimum. Programs are designed in consultation with local leaders, governments, parents and children. Working together, projects are implemented to improve education, health, livelihoods, nutrition, food security, child protection, water and sanitation.
Typical activities include building and equipping schools, teacher training, health worker training, management of common childhood illnesses, immunisation programs, construction of water systems, health and hygiene training, HIV and AIDS prevention, capacity building for government personnel, crop diversification, improved livestock management, farmer training, youth vocational training, micro-finance, distribution of essential materials (such as seeds, tools and livestock) and rights realisation initiatives.
ChildFund is present and responds rapidly in times of humanitarian crisis, and ChildFund’s central concern for children is evident in its child protection programs, early childhood care, children’s clubs, youth groups, child participation, sport and recreation opportunities.
All activities are monitored closely and regularly evaluated to assess effectiveness. Funds are applied according to strict budgets that are carefully managed and all country programs are independently audited.
