The Centre for Management Development (CMD) was established in 1979 as a research driven management consulting and training institution under the Government of Kerala, catering to Government at the Centre, States and local levels, Development Agencies and Institutions in the Corporate and Social Sector.
The Centre was set-up as per GO (Ms)No. 294/78/ID dated 31.07.1978, based on the recommendations of the K. T. Chandy Committee, with the objective of providing professional managerial support to different types of enterprises. Registered as a professional society under act XII of “the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Society Registration Act, 1955”, CMD is attached with the Industries Department, Government of Kerala. It is managed by a Governing Board comprising of a Chairman, three senior Secretaries to the Government of Kerala, four Chief Executives of public enterprises, two academicians in the field of management, two industrialists, and two representatives of professional bodies. The Director is the member secretary to the Board.
During the history of more than three decades, CMD has collaborated with management teams in over 250 organisations to accelerate growth and create value by applying industry knowledge, cutting-edge research and leadership training experience.
