Mission and objectives

El Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia -UNICEF- fue creado en 1946 para atender a los niños víctimas de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y en 1953, UNICEF se convirtió en organismo permanente de las Naciones Unidas. Desde entonces, su misión ha sido velar por el cumplimiento de los derechos de todos los niños y las niñas, particularmente de los más vulnerables y desprotegidos. UNICEF trabaja en México desde 1954 en coordinación con el gobierno, las organizaciones de la sociedad civil y el sector privado, y guiados por la Convención de los Derechos del Niño de las Naciones Unidas para lograr que todos niños, niñas y adolescentes vean garantizados sus derechos. Nuestros esfuerzos se enfocan en asegurar que todos nuestros programas e iniciativas alcancen a quienes se encuentran en mayor desventaja y vulnerabilidad durante su infancia y adolescencia.

Context

In Mexico, UNICEF has been working since 1954 promoting children’s rights and working with government and key stakeholders to reduce inequalities thought programmes related to education, nutrition, child protection and access to social services.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Communication Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Communication Specialist will: 1. Work to ensure the execution of the Come Como Campeón communicational campaign, which has the purpose of promoting healthy eating and physical activity in children and adolescents, motivated by Champions: athletes, artists, and other influential personalities. His/ her tasks include the following activities: A. Proposing and managing partnerships with celebrities and other influencers, under the supervision of the Communication Alliances Specialist; B. Planning and overseeing media products, in coordination with the respective specialists of the Communications Team; C. Liaising with the different UNICEF areas involved, including Nutrition-Programs, Communication and PFP; D. Ensuring the timely execution of the roadmap for the campaign; E. Organizing and compiling the material produced for the campaign; F. Monitoring and evaluation of the Campaign’s results, and G. If the Communication Chief and the Nutrition Chief approve, he/she will offer support to other Communication projects if needed. Results/expected outputs • As an active team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNICEF and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: A. Celebrities and influencers are engaged in supporting Come Como Campeón. B. Come Como Campeón activities are supported and implemented in a timely and coordinated manner as per the digital KPI and timetable. C. Media products timely and according to UNICEF HQ and Country Office quality guidelines are delivered. D. Reports on the results of the campaign phases that he/she is involved are prepared on time. • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
