Mission and objectives

OCHA's mission is to coordinate the global emergency response to save lives and protect people in humanitarian crises. OCHA advocates for effective and principled humanitarian action by all, for all.

Context

This UNV assignment is part of UNOCHA’s efforts to support the humanitarian community’s response in Yemen, which is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. Based in the UNOCHA office in Aden, Yemen.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the ICT Assistant and the ICT Analyst with overall direction of the Head of Administration and Finance unit or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV ICT Clerk will assist in: • Support to networks administration • Participation in development and implementation of ICT annual plan and Standard Operating Procedures in ICT services. • Effective functioning (installation, operation and maintenance) of all OCHA Yemen hardware equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies. • Performing of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and routine repairs. • Installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades, anti-virus programs on a timely basis. • Troubleshooting and monitoring of network problems. Ensure that the OCHA Yemen desktop and network resources are protected from malicious virus attacks and deploy countermeasures in the event of the attacks • Maintaining the stock of ICT supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Administration and Procurement Teams. • Provision of the necessary assistance in procurement of equipment, provision of technical specifications, review of bids, inventory of assets, maintenance of reference libraries, etc. • Managing and coordinating Help Desk activities to provide a reliable and systematic IT service delivery to OCHA Yemen. Maintaining a client-oriented approach that ensures the Help Desk provides high quality of service. • Operation of network utility procedures by defining network users and security attributes and configuring network printers and providing user access. • Maintaining the Meeting rooms’ shared calendar and ensure all required VTC meetings are timely connected. • Performing any other duties as requested by immediate supervisor and the Head of Unit.
