Background of the project 

Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion is a key component of the IRC’s strategy and vision, and has been identified as a core global priority for our strategic plan, Strategy100.  As an organization, we are committed anti-racism and fighting discrimination, understanding the systemic underpinnings of both, and recognizing that different parts of the world experience these issues in different ways. The IRC GEDI action plan aims to build an inclusive organizational culture where diversity will be championed and represented at all leadership levels and every staff member is safe respected and encouraged to bring their authentic self to work.

GEDI learning and training is one of our key drivers to foster and inclusive culture that builds on individual and organizational transformation and accountability to uphold IRC equality values. In order to advance and strengthen our approach to GEDI learning, IRC is looking for an independent consultant to support the initial development of an organization-wide comprehensive Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion learning development strategy.

Scope of work:

Based on existing IRC and industry wide best practices, the independent consultant will:

  • Provide GEDI expertise to develop a Global Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion learning and training strategy and curriculum that meets the need of different categories of staff, from senior leaders to frontline staff. The project scope will include:
  • Mapping existing GEDI learning and training material and initiative across the organization
  • Identifying GEDI learning and training need for different groups of staff, leaders, and functions across the organization working closely with the IRC GEDI Unit members
  • Identifying issues, opportunities, and solutions to strengthen GEDI learning across functions, departments, and context
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen GEDI learning in existing staff learning and development processes including but not limited to: employee onboarding; managers development courses,
  • Identify opportunities to embed GEDI topics in technical and functional departmental core trainings; example S&S, HR, Technical unit teams etc.
  • Provide expertise on adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies aimed to deliver effective solutions in a variety of formats with regard to Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion learning and curriculum that will enable access to learning across our different contexts.

Deliverables:

1.      Deliver a Global GEDI learning strategy and curriculums for IRC staff and managers that reflect the diversity of contexts and needs across the organization and across different functions including: 

  • An assessment of existing GEDI learning practices identifying gaps and opportunities.
  • A mapping of GEDI learning needs across different function and different categories of staff.
  • A newly design of GEDI learning strategy and curriculum (overall approach, core content/topics, target groups, delivery mechanism and channel) that ensure GEDI knowledge, values and principles are built into individual behaviours and skills at all levels to support organizational transformation toward a more diverse and inclusive organizational culture that brings our equality value to life.
  • An implementation strategy including detailed recommendation and roadmap

2.      Create one new GEDI learning content/course to be delivered through different channels and platforms in partnership with the IRC learning and development team.

3.      Create a well-organized resource folder containing existing GEDI learning resources and materials available in the organization.

4.      Design a GEDI learning data analytics and reporting system that helps assess uptake and impact of GEDI learning opportunities.
