Overview of the project: DRC will contribute to GBV prevention in EA & Maan through activities that aim to decrease the risk of GBV exposure for women and girls and ensure access to high quality response services. Specific activities include:

Structured GBV prevention activities for women, men, boys and/or girls based upon pre-determined GBV prevention manuals.

Overall purpose of the role:  DRC is looking for an experienced Protection Officer - GBV with a background in GBV to ensure high quality implementation of the GBV prevention activities in [EA & Maan].

 

About the job

The individual will report directly to Base Manager - Madaba. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Implements structured GBV prevention activities, including conducting outreach, organizing sessions, implementing sessions and ensuring safe identification and referral of GBV and other protection cases to appropriate services.
  • Ensures DRC has effective referral pathways to high quality survivor-centered GBV Case Management, and other services, as needed.
  • Coordinates closely with the MEAL team in the monitoring of, and learning from, project activities.
  • Supports in the development of GBV awareness and prevention materials.
  • Ensures protection principles are mainstreamed throughout the project activities.
  • Assists the Protection officer and Base Manager in administrative matters related to GBV activities.
  • Assists the Protection officer and Base Manager in the timely reporting of project activities, including ensuring all activities are accurately documented on DRC Jordan’s IM database.
  • Coordinates closely with relevant GBV partners to facilitate cross-programming, and ensure timely access to referral pathways.
  • Any other duties, as directed by the Base Manager

 

About you

Required

  • Bachelor/ Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or another related field.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically working with GBV Programming (prevention or response); experience of facilitating GBV prevention programmes would be an advantage.
  • Experience in providing trainings / facilitating sessions on protection topics.
  • Experience facilitating community awareness sessions on gender and GBV.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of individuals at all times.
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed;
  • Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Jordan.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic
  • Working ability in English is an advantage
