Overview of the project: DRC will contribute to GBV prevention in Madaba through activities that aim to decrease the risk of GBV exposure for women and girls and provide access to high quality response services.

Overall purpose of the role:  DRC is looking for a Protection Assistant – GBV with a background in GBV to ensure high quality implementation of GBV activities delivered by DRC and partners in Madaba

 

About the job

The individual will report directly to Base Manager - Madaba. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Supports the Protection Officer (GBV) in the implementation of GBV activities, including organizing and facilitating community-based GBV prevention activities.
  • Supports in the implementation of safety planning exercises.
  • Processes referrals from internal and external service providers, as required.
  • Supports in the implementation of GBV awareness and prevention materials.
  • Ensures protection principles are mainstreamed throughout the project activities.
  • Ensures timely reporting of project activities, including ensuring all activities are accurately documented on DRC Jordan’s IM database.
  • Supports the Protection Officer (GBV) in any administrative issues relating to the project activities
  • Any other duties, as directed by the Protection Team Leader.

 

About you

Required

  • Bachelor/ Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings in a protection position; experience working on GBV would be an advantage. 
  • Experience supporting on the facilitation  of community awareness sessions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times.
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed.
  • Previous experience in working with Syrian refugees in Jordan.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic. Working knowledge of English an advantage
