Are you an experienced project manager working in or looking to work in Benghazi, Libya? We are looking for a project manager to be responsible for the effective and timely implementation of an anticipated new project in Benghazi that will work across 3 new sectors of operation for DRC in Benghazi – economic recovery, community safety, and protection. The position provides leadership in all aspects of the management of the program, including project implementation, planning and supervision of activities, coordination with partners and stakeholders, management of staff and local partners, monitoring and reporting.

About the job

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Project Management

  • Supervise the timely, quality implementation of an anticipated new project in Benghazi within budget, including programme operations in coordination with support services teams.
  • Be accountable for ensuring programme management input and update of project management tools including PMT to monitor spend and progress.
  • Be accountable for the development of project and activity work plans, budgets, HR and procurement plans
  • Participate in grants processes such as grants review meetings, leading on the presentation of progress, and feed into donor reporting.
  • Ensure programme implementation is responsive to communities and partners and remains aligned to DDG-DRC and CHS principles and values including compliance with DRC’s Code of Conduct, conflict and gender sensitivity 

Team and People Management

  • People management of direct reports and overall responsibility for all project staff (including recruitment, development, accountability, people planning and performance).
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative and enabling work environment.
  • Coordinate and hold regular team meetings and ensuring key information is communicated and actions are followed up.

Representation 

  • Coordinate with other project partners operating in the area
  • Represent DRC to donors and external actors during programme visits in coordination with country director, head of programmes, and others
  • Represent DRC towards external stakeholders, including humanitarian and development partners and authorities in coordination with other DRC-DDG staff

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a strong ability to manage projects to deadlines. Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant project management experience with 3 years managing a team. 
  • Experience engaging in an organization with multi-sectoral and multi-functional teams.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • Experience with external representation and strong diplomatic skills in communicating with stakeholders.
  • Prior knowledge of working with DRC and/or International NGO in relevant region will be considered an asset.
  • Prior knowledge of cooperation with local partners will be considered an asset.
  • All staff are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies. 
  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
