We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath and to help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

Job Summary

The Community Coalition Coordinator (CCC) is a new position and will be a member of the U.S. Program Team. The role of the CCC is to support the community outreach and coalition building efforts of the Community Peacebuilding Program in Minneapolis. This may include providing logistical support on trainings and community meetings focused on Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP), Community Safety and Mutual Protection. 

Job Responsibilities

Program Operations 

  • Coordinate and schedule community meetings and ensure follow through on actions to ensure quality trainings and building relationships
  • Work alongside the Program Specialist and Training Specialist to build a ladder of engagement grounded in popular education and grassroots leadership development
  • Assist in the coordination and logistics of Nonviolent Peaceforce’s Community Safety Trainings. This includes virtual and in person trainings
  • Provide information to support program evaluation and grant reporting

Communications 

  • Provide support to communications team to ensure that the Community Peace Building Program is represented in organizational materials 
  • Support NPUS communications through research, writing articles, designing outreach materials, and collecting stories of impactfor use in local and global communications

Program Development/ Operations/ Expansion

  • Provide administrative support to program team and new hires (including recordkeeping, onboarding, and data management)
  • Coordinate safety and training requests, research new partners for outreach and training invitations
  • Support evolving program needs and operations
  • Work with other members of NP’s Program Team to provide feedback and authentic input for further improvement of the curriculum and program

Key competencies 

  • Understanding of structural racism and historical trauma of marginalized communities
  • Ability and comfort identifying and navigating race and discussions about racial justice issues in multi-racial groups
  • Ability to maintain composure and empathy in training spaces

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to the safety and security of civilians, human rights and racial justice
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing administrative support
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school or GED 
  • Knowledge of and interest in peacebuilding and community safety/violence prevention
  • Experience with Salesforce or other database 

Working Conditions:

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Some travel may be required.
