OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Office of the Director ofProgramme Management is the facilitating, controlling and coordination body ofthe Region's technical programmes at both Inter-country and country levels. Theoverall objective is to ensure the efficient and effective development,implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the collaborative programmes ofWHO in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Monitor the Director of Programme Management’s office (DPMO) workflow, reviewing and analyzing information, identifying priorities, initiating responses, coordinating with both internal and external parties to ensure timely follow up on actions, monitor progress and provide regular technical briefings and updates to the Director of Programme Management.

2. Assist the Director of Programme Management in liaising with technical focal points across the Organization, external consultants, and partners, as well as with inter-governmental and international organizations, including UN agencies, regarding technical topics/agenda.

3. Proof-read and edit all technical and managerial documents for DPM signature/clearance, ensuring compliance with WHO official style and rules and regulations. Initiate responses as appropriate. Collaborate with relevant staff in coordinating and preparing DPM’s statements and talking points.

4. Coordinate with DPMO administration and technical teams on all matters related to programme management and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders in the execution of programme activities.

5. Manage and execute all actions related to HR activities and, ensure that all HR actions are in compliance with approved HR plan, including timely initiation of actions required.

6. Monitor proper implementation of DPM’s workplan and review the mid and end of biennium reporting and coordinate with PME colleagues any inconsistencies and ensure timely reporting.

7. Supervise, guide and develop the capacity of DPMO administrative staff in addition to senior administrative staff in the technical departments reporting to DPM, through continuous review of work, convening meetings, proper guidance, and coaching.

8. Technically contribute in monitoring the implementation of specific technical and managerial aspects related to DPMO, including preparing risk registers and mitigation strategies, reviewing the compliance and risk management dashboard and ensuring regular monitoring and updating of the same.

9. Coordinate with technical departments the timely dissemination of information and feedback, ensuring timely communication across programmes and levels of the Organization, as well as partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University Degree in business administration, management,social sciences, or related field
Desirable:

Experience

Essential: At least 2 years of relevant experience in administration in an Executive office, proven experience in planning and managing appropriate communications related to technical activities, high-level meetings, and missions.
Desirable: Working experience in an international or UN organization

  • Ability to multi-task and to complete assignments with efficiency, adhering to deadlines and emergency/shifting priorities.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage an Executive Level Office in an inter-governmental/international agency.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 601,552 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
