Senior Green Investment Strategy Officer

The Investment Officer, under the guidance of Thailand Country Representative, will be one of the key national investment experts in the implementation of GGGI Thailand's projects. (S)he will co-lead the green investment mobilization aspects of GGGI's projects in Thailand. The primarily focus is on sustainable bioenergy (biogas and green fuels), energy efficiency and sustainable waste management, including the innovative circular economy business models and investment cases.

PURPOSE

  • Evaluate bottlenecks, difficulties, and opportunities in target industries, and develop policy and investment intervention to accelerate domestic investment in green growth.         
  • Identify and construct financial structures and instruments to catalyze green investments, elaborate innovative models for green business to scale up investments in green growth, especially from the private sector, within the context of the country program.
  • Evaluate and present policies to incentivize investments in sectors such as biogas, green fuels, energy efficiency, sustainable and sustainable waste management.
  • Implements specific programs or projects, assigned by the Country Representative, including budget, project monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop and present investment and policy recommendations to government agencies and relevant partners
  • Supervise and ensure the high quality of technical tasks delegated to other associate staffs
  • Provide financial know-how through advice and substantive inputs, especially in structuring bankable projects and/or financing facilities/risk-reduction instruments.
  • Developing content for knowledge, training and communication materials on green investment

ENGAGEMENT

The Investment Strategy Officer implements tasks (including production of documents) in a timely and high-quality manner. He/she shall also build his/her understanding of GGGI project development methodology as guided by the Country Representative, and in accordance with the project team.

  • Lead capacity building of government counterparts, businesses, and other stakeholders in the area of green investments.
  • Maintain active professional relationships with donor agencies, with investors, banks and local entrepreneurs, and other international/local stakeholders

DELIVERY

  • Identify and develop appropriate green policy mechanisms and risk reduction tools.
  • Identify and develop green investment projects and pipelines in sustainable bioenergy, energy efficiency and sustainable waste management, including the innovative circular economy business models.
  • Monitor and manager performance of GGGI consultants who are assisting with the investment work and ensuring high-quality deliverables
  • Provide technical advice to other staff and government counterparts on the green investment.
  • Develop and disseminate capacity development and knowledge sharing products.

REQUIREMENT

  • Postgraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant field, i.e. economics, finance, business, investment.
  • Essential relevant professional experience (preferred minimum 5 years), preferably for financial institutions or development agency in green finance policy related work.
  • Experience in developing technical advisory products and services.

FUNCTIONAL

  • Proven experience in policy advisory, strategic planning, project financing, private or public sector projects
  • Knowledge about climate finance, and/or blended finance concept is a plus.
  • Experience and expertise as project manager in project origination, development, and delivery.
  • Experience in conducing industry and market research and leading business development efforts.
  • Experience of working with high-level government officials, international organizations, multilateral development banks, etc.
  • Good understanding of Thai banking sector - knowledge of the regional banking sector a plus.
  • Thematic experience in sustainable bioenergy, energy efficiency and sustainable waste management.
