Role Overview

The Finance Data Analysis Intern will support the team in a project to align process and create new analytical tools. The main area of support is on data collection in order to map the current process of the Finance Partner Team and in developing new tools to data analysis.

Project Overview

Medair Global Support Office (GSO) provides operational guidance for country programmes, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. Within our headquarters and affiliate offices, we are also responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes, and to recruit international and GSO staff.

Medair GSO Finance Department, is primarily focused on Medair financial and investment decisions, acts as a financial gatekeeper and strategic advisor in daily business operation and also mid to long-term strategic decisions of Medair, with streamlined and optimized key processes, via leveraging a fit-for-purpose system.

Key Activity Areas

Process Mapping and Identification

  • Assisting in process review of Finance Partner team through data collection, interviews with the team main stakeholders and document reviews.
  • Assisting in evidence and documentation sourcing for Finance Partner guidelines, process and methodologies used by the team to support the decision-making process.

 

Data collection, cleaning and quality assurance

  • Engage with the Finance Partners to ensure that the financial data in the system follow the guidelines according to the operating procedures.

 

Data analysis and visualization

  • Prepare regular analysis reports such as Country Overview, Budget versus Actual Expenses Report and Private Fund needs.
  • Support in the development of reporting tools by analysing the data available, preparing visualisations and draft narratives for effective storytelling.

 

Other

  • Supporting Finance Partner team with ad-hoc analyses.

 

Innovation/changes

  • Create dashboards using data analysis tools such as Qlik

Qualifications/ Experience

  • An advanced university degree in economics, finance or data science required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and presentation skills in English.
  • Desirable experience with qualitative research.
  • Experience in collecting and processing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Confident in using advanced functions of Excel, Tableau, Power BI or Qlik. The knowledge of Qlik would be desirable.
  • Office Package.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues.
