NRC in Myanmar is looking for a Shelter Project Manager to join the South East Area Office based in Hpa An. This opportunity is open to national candidates only, and will be responsible for implementing Shelter, Multi-Purpose Cash and other Emergency programming, 

Role Summary

The purpose of the Shelter Project Manager is to manage the implementation of the Shelter projects as assigned for South East (SE) Myanmar. The Project Manager will report into the Area Programme Manager and manage the SE Shelter team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate, develop, coordinate and manage Shelter and Emergency project implementation in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and coordinate across Core Competencies and make sure projects are aligned to Integrated Programming.
  • Line manage the Shelter team, and ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Liaison and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums/cluster/working group.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Shelter, Multi-Purpose Cash and other Emergency programming
  • Responsible for specific input and participation in contextual analysis and needs assessments including protection risks and needs, and planning and implementation of responses to new emergencies, as well as to protracted displacement.
  • Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the program and materials in collaboration with the Shelter Specialist based on observations and discussions with critical interfaces.
  • Ensure good cooperation and exchange of information with the Shelter team, other relevant partners and external actors and working with the Area Programmes Manager and Shelter Specialist to ensure that field learning is captured.

Required competencies, skills and experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context with extensive experience of Shelter, Cash for Work, Multi-Purpose Cash and Emergency responses
  • Minimum First Level University Degree in relevant and related field
  • Technical Shelter Core Competency expertise
  • Experience in WASH response is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience in strategic partnerships with NGOs, CSOs or CBOs
  • Project management experience, including management of staff, team building/motivation
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Knowledge of South East Myanmar context an advantage
  • Humanitarian coordination experience is an advantage
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
