Information Management is one of the most sought after capacities among our partners need and we are currently looking for candidates that are able to:

  • Provide technical assistance and oversight to support country offices in the formulation, design, planning, implementation of integrated thematic information interventions
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic approaches to managing information around humanitarian programme cycles, including supporting common information processes such as preparedness, needs assessment, strategic planning, resource mobilization, implementation and monitoring
  • Provide capacity development support and expertise on the use and development of information management tools and platforms in an emergency response
  • Oversee the stylistic design, editorial coherence and production of information and reporting materials intended for external use, such as maps, infographics, reports, bulletins and situation reports
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of primary data and information on the humanitarian situation that are required internally and externally to support decision-making
  • Design, develop and manage databases, spreadsheets and other data tools; understand, document, and ensure the quality of high-value humanitarian data for accuracy consistency and comparability; consolidate operational information on a regular schedule to support analysis
  • Support the maintenance of information management networks to facilitate humanitarian information exchange and the promotion of data and information standards
  • Advocate for the use of data standards and common platforms, and for the open exchange of information
  • Engage with external actors, including senior staff in humanitarian and development agencies, as well as government, on matters related to information management

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional humanitarian experience in the field of information management (equivalent to the UN P3 level or higher)  
  • Relevant higher education
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two years of additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Hands-on experience with the UN cluster system
  • Experience with capacity building initiatives
  • Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts, graphs etc.
  • Experience in managing information in disaster response or complex emergencies
  • Experience working with OCHA and/or in another humanitarian coordination function (e.g. IMO for a cluster) is highly desirable. 
  • English is the working language for NORCAP, but candidates that also speak French, Arabic or Spanish will be prioritized

  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems, to explore, harness and translate innovative concepts into practice.
  • Ability to apply knowledge from contemporary research and translate this into humanitarian settings

NORCAP missions:

  • Normally six (6) months, but may be extended 
  • No family duty stations
