The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing the Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in January 2016 and have since grown to 103 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized up to USD100 billion and Triple-A-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Working with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.

The primary responsibilities of the Chief Officer are to: (1) assist the President in conducting the Bank’s day-to-day business and management of operations and activities; (2) coordinate across functions to ensure the optimization of decision-making and alignment with AIIB’s overall strategy, vision, and goals, and (3) manage the staff in the Office of the President.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee the key day-to-day operations of the Bank on behalf of the President, within delegated areas and scope.

  • Act as a chief advisor to the President, both for carrying out the Bank’s business-as-usual activities and for dealing with unusual/complex/sensitive situations.

  • Facilitate and coordinate across functions and departments to maximize and optimize the Bank’s operational effectiveness and efficiency, including dealing with sensitive issues that might impede the progress of operations.

  • Serve as the bridge between the President and Senior Management to enhance effective two-way communication and efficient business operations.  Make an initial assessment on and organize all incoming information for the President.

  • Manage the staff in the Office of the President.

  • Other tasks assigned by the President.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years working in a leadership function and position of influence, preferably in major multilateral development bank(s), with demonstrated capacity to resolve challenging issues and deal with highly political or sensitive communication in a complex environment.

  • Substantial professional experience in general administration, international development, and banking in international organizations, the private sector or government service.

  • Exceptional relationship/consensus-building skills to engage internal stakeholders, and effectively promote and facilitate cross-unit collaboration and synergy.

  • Effective managerial and interpersonal skills in managing a diverse workforce and team.

  • Master’s degree or equivalent or higher degree in relevant fields from a reputable university.

AIIB is committed to diversity, transparency and inclusion. We believe our strength comes from having a team with the right diverse skills, experiences and abilities selected through a merit-based competitive process. We actively encourage applications from people from both within and outside AIIB members, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, race, disability or sexual orientation.

Join in AIIB’s mission to promote sustainable infrastructure investments and to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond.

Previous experience and qualifications will determine the grade and job title at which successful applicants will enter AIIB.
