OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health development agendas and emergency/resilience programmes, and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1. Secure information from a broad range of health sector entities, analyze data and make recommendations on needed action.2. Update health sector indicators, collect relevant data and monitor health cluster and humanitarian strategic and operational indicators.3. Prepare periodical reports on the assigned projects and develop lessons learnt report for future use.4. Monitor the health situation in the duty station to identify critical issues for cluster and multi-sectorial interventions.5. Conduct needs assessment of medical centers in the designated duty station with regards to medical equipment and essential drugs.6. Ensure that health needs and gaps are identified through joint planning and coordination, and rapid assessment procedure.7. Organize inter-cluster meetings and facilitate communications and exchange of technical information for efficient and smooth implementation of health activities.8. Maintain close relations with national authorities and other counterparts to ensure optimum impact as well as participation and ownership by national authorities.9. Provide regular update on the progress of work as well as technical reports requested by donors for the implementation of activities.10. Provide technical input in the preparation of training materials and conduct technical briefings when needed for the health workforce.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in medicine or public health or social sciences
Desirable: An advanced degree in public health.

Experience

Essential: At least 2 years of experience at the national level in health systems coordination.
Desirable: Experience working in the UN system.

Skills

1. Good knowledge of health system and policy process.2. Knowledge of WHO mandate and goals and procedures and policies3. REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 41,349 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
