Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The position is normally supervised by a more senior staff member who provides the Senior Data Management Assistant with regular guidance and support. Subject to the nature of the task/assignment, s/he will work independently on routine tasks, while will follow instructions of the supervisor for more complex issues. The position has no supervisory role.
Contacts are mainly with the colleagues in the same duty station to exchange information and to discuss the work plans. External contacts are not frequent. In the Field locations, under supervision of the manager, the incumbent may play a liaison role with the national and local authorities for gathering and exchange of data.

Duties
- Enter data mainly related to asylum seekers, refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR into the computer database.
- Prepare reports and project documents by providing information, preparing tables and drafting routine correspondence and reports.
- Assist in compilation of data and interpreting the statistics for various reports.
- Assist in the development of forms for data collection and analysis, if requested.
- Act as interpreter in the exchange of routine information and translate routine documents and correspondence as and when required.
- May be required to collect GIS data, update maps and undertake field trips to project sites.
- Decide on the data recorded in database.
- Decide on appropriate resolution to incidents and escalate issues to the supervisor if incident cannot be resolved within the scope of responsibility.
- Perform other related duties as required.

======================================================================================================== The Office of the UNHCR was established on 14 December 1950 by the UN General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees, stateless and internally displaced. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country (www.unhcr.org). UNHCR¿s activities include needs identification, multi-sectorial humanitarian assistance including emergency response and support to persons with specific needs, as well as community-based activities and coordination. UNHCR works in partnership with various humanitarian and development actors and in cooperation and coordination with relevant authorities.

In Myanmar, UNHCR works to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to stateless persons, internally displaced persons, and refugee returnees. UNHCR has been working in Myanmar since 1994. In order to deliver its programme, UNHCR has established its presence in 10 locations in Myanmar including Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, Rakhine, Kachin, Shan (North), Kayah and Kayin States.

The Senior Data Management Assistant in Maungdaw assists in the collection, production and dissemination of information on the population of concern and on inter-agency coordination, including but not limited to Protection and Programme information, and sectoral interventions in the area of responsibility. The Senior Data Management Assistant also provides some ICT-related support to the office.

The position is normally supervised by a more senior staff member who provides the Senior Data Management Assistant with regular guidance and support. Subject to the nature of the task/assignment, s/he will work independently on routine tasks, while will follow instructions of the supervisor for more complex issues. The position has no supervisory role.

Contacts are mainly with the colleagues in the same duty station, as well as IM and ICT colleagues in Yangon and Sittwe, to exchange information, work on common/joint products and to discuss the work plans. Contact is also made with external partners, especially for the purpose of collecting regular updates on humanitarian activities. The position will be under Temporary Appointment with a possible conversion to Fixed Term Appointment until 31 Dec. 2022. Closing date is mid-night of 27 Sept. 2021
