Organizational Setting:


FAO Lebanon initiated the Rural Entrepreneurship Academy project which aims at enhancing access to knowledge through providing rural small-scale agro-entrepreneurs and MSMEs with the skills and capacities they need to maximize the efficiency and viability of their business-related operations. The Academy will provide a range of basic business programs on several topics. In this framework, FAO is seeking a “MSMEs Business Development Trainer” to deliver a training program on the topics defined in the below sections. The expert should have extensive experience in the delivery of short, informal, and interactive business-related training programs for individuals and MSMEs working in the agriculture and agro-business sector.

Reporting Lines:


The incumbent will report to Mr Etienne Careme, FAO Representative in Lebanon a.i./Budget Holder, and to Mr Mohamed Abdel Monem, Project Lead technical Officer (LTO).

Technical Focus:


Business development capacity building.


Tasks and responsibilities:


The consultant will be responsible of conducting a business training for the rural academy beneficiaries.
In close coordination with the FAO project focal point and MOA National Project Coordinator, the MSMEs Business Development Trainer will be responsible for the following:

• Deliver training sessions on the following topics (up to 2 days training delivery for each):

- Basic Financial Literacy (Feasibility studies, loans, pricing, financing,).
- Marketing (Marketing principles, and e-marketing).
- Sales (Retail and e-commerce).
- Accounting (costing, pricing, and book-keeping).

• Validate the training materials, program, pre & post assessments with the FAO and MOA prior to training delivery
• Work in close coordination with the FAO and the MOA teams to ensure good communication and smooth implementation of the above tasks.

This consultancy will be field-based in two Lebanese Regions: Akkar and Baalback-Hermel.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements


• University degree in Business Management, Marketing, Economics, Agri-Business, Development, or other related field.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of business-related training programs as mentioned in the previous section, especially for MSMEs working in agri-business. The consultant will be asked to demonstrate her/his experience through showing previous achievement/accomplishments.
• Working knowledge of Arabic or English.
• Lebanese nationality or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
