Background

 

The Head of Performance and Rewards acts as a trusted senior advisor to AIIB departments and the Human Resources Department (HRD) on performance management and reward strategy and policies. They will provide high value expertise, guidance and support to the Bank with regards to performance management and rewards, including market information, best practices and trends. The candidate will also support managers and staff in understanding the Bank’s policies and in making reward decisions, working in collaboration with HR focal points for the departments.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct the strategic planning, design, implementation, communication and administration of compensation and benefit programs, and performance management policies and processes.
  • Develop appropriate and timely compensation and benefits programs for Board approval,to establish and maintain a competitive reward package aligned to the reward strategy, including a focus on the link between performance and reward. 
  • Lead and manage the Performance and Reward function of HRD to help staff accomplish their goals and objectives. 
  • Analyze reward programs in relation to other international financial institutions (IFIs) and private sector financial institutions and develop or modify programs to maintain total compensation positioning and internal equity.
  • Conduct regular benchmarking to determine appropriate compensation levels relative to the market and advise senior management on compensation actions for employees.
  • Working with the Office of the Corporate Secretary, support the periodic review of executive remuneration, including the remuneration levels of the President and the Vice Presidents, and contribute to the formulation of recommendations to the President and/or the Board as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the job grading process, and its associated impact on the organizational hierarchy and reward management.
  • Design and administer alternative compensation and benefit programs, including alternative rewards.
  • Lead and oversee the management, evaluation and administration of a Bank-wide benefits program including the retirement plan, insurance plans, leaves, loans and education benefit. 
  • Ensure that the Bank's benefits programs have a balanced consideration for trends, market practices and costs, continue to be meaningful to staff and are in line with the overall Bank philosophy regarding market competitiveness.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of carriers and consultants to minimize expenses associated with the overall benefits package.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of information to employees with regard to performance management, and rewards and benefit programs.
  • Work in close cooperation with other Centres of Expertise to ensure a productive and effective connection between the rewards strategy and strategic HR and organizational priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with HR focal points to develop and implement integrated HR solutions, supporting the business strategy and associated needs.
  • As a member of the HR Leadership Team, play an active role in all HR matters discussed by the Team.  
  • Serve as a champion and role model for the Bank’s values and behaviors.

 

Qualifications

 

  • At least 15 years prior management experience in the discipline of compensation and benefits.
  • Proven knowledge of job evaluation and grading.
  • Solid experience in developing, facilitating and communicating complex compensation and benefits programs using best-in-class methodologies and know-how.
  • Effective organizational, client management and communication (oral and written) skills are essential. This position interacts with all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully working and influencing senior level executives to include exposure at Board and executive management level, including presentation of well-defined policy recommendations.
  • Excellent project management, facilitation/problem solving skills, with experience in planning, organizing and executing large-scale cross-functional projects desirable.
  • Strategic / critical thinker with good business acumen and a demonstrable track record of delivering sustainable results that are strategic and solution-focused and aligned with business drivers.
  • Highly numerate and computer literate, including effective knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and reasonable knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative within tight deadlines.
  • Master's degree, preferably in business, human resources or related areas, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
