National consultancy for FP nursing training package in Arabic and Develop a FP counseling course using updated WHO recommendations

Purpose of the consultancy

The main objective of this consultation is to provide technical advice to the MOHP to disseminate the developed FP Training package, case management protocol based on the 2016 WHO guidelines on the management of health complications from female genital mutilation.

Background

The WHO Egypt’s office, initiated a series of training on Family Planning service providers, all over the country, for many years.

The focus was directed to the MOHP service providers, but the WHO Egypt’s office, adopted a new strategy of expanding the training to include the universities’ staff service providers, not only in the Faculties of Medicine, but also in the Faculties of Nursing.

The aim was to standardize family planning given counselling, service delivery as well as assuring the quality of the provided FP services, in all the health facilities.

The training package was designed to be consistent with the new updated National Family Planning Guideline, (which has been updated to be consistent with the latest WHO Global Handbook 2018, as well as the Medical Eligibility Criteria 2015).

Through training, the need for Arabic version became obvious, and to get the best benefits of the developed materials, WHO is supporting the development of an Arabic version of the training materials for nurses.

The aim is to: Ensure strengthened family planning services through; developing a nursing family planning training tools in Arabic language, and developing the FP counselling training material, in line with WHO updated guidelines, to facilitate and support implementation of more training batches; in the coming biennium to cover all the Nursing schools, in selected governorates, (selection will be done by national authorities upon finalizing the materials),

Work to be performed

Output 1: 1.1 Undertake desk review of the existing WHO family planning guidelines and recommendations

Deliverable 1.1: Conduct a Desk review, and provide WHO recommendations

Output 1.2 Draft a family planning nursing training materials package in Arabic language

Deliverable 1.2 Submit a draft of FP nursing training material

Output 1.3 Ensure finalizing and editing of the nursing FP material

Deliverable: 1.3 Develop simplified FP nursing training package in Arabic

Deliverable: 1.2 Complete revised and verified facilitator and participant handbooks

Output 2: Develop FP counselling material using WHO updated recommendations

Deliverable 2: develop FP counselling material, in line with the updated WHO recommendations

Required Qualifications

Education:

Essential:

University degree in Medicine or Master’s degree in public health or medicine specializing in sexual and reproductive health and Family Planning.

Desirable: Additional experience in developing training packages and counselling

Experience:

Essential:

  • 5 to 10 years work experience in the relevant field /Public Health in Egypt and experience of working with government.

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in writing reports and drafting policy documents related to health
  • Experience in national or international organizations or agencies, or non-governmental organizations providing technical assistance at the national level

Skills/ Technical knowledge

  • Proven knowledge of health and reproductive health issues and good understanding of FP
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in challenging circumstances
  • Flexibility to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work on culturally sensitive topics
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • -Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, writing and documentation skills.
  • -Ability to meet tight deadlines and to work effectively under pressure.

-Necessary skills for establishment and operationalization of telemedicine services

Language

- Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing)

- Knowledge of local languages for effective communication at field level.

Arabic native with excellent knowledge of English both written and spoken.

Medical clearance : The selected Consultant will be expected to provide a medical certificate of fitness for work.

Travel

Travel cost and accommodation are excluded from this contract. No Travel will be required for this assignment
