SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. 

 

 

Mission 

The purpose of the position is to lead a project aimed at both facilitating the provision of immediate support to children and others who have experienced abuse and strengthening overall incident management. The project starts in September 2021 and ends on 31 December 2023. 

Part of the project management position is the development of a global process to manage safeguarding immediate support applications. This involves process support in planning projects, reaching agreements on project funding, providing feedbacks on reports and providing a global overview of sub-projects in scope (based on submitted concept notes). In addition, the position holder is responsible for stakeholder management and for liaising with finance colleagues to administrate the funding of investments. 

 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities 

Lead a project on managing global programme investments for safeguarding immediate support actions 

  • Plan the project and keep it on track, create and monitor the project budget, steer the overall project implementation, monitor progress, mitigate risks and create project reports 
  • Extract learnings and insights and feed them into relevant processes and frameworks 
Manage interfaces with relevant stakeholders  
  • Regularly inform, consult and align with all relevant stakeholders  
  • Ensure task distribution among them as defined in the process 
Lead ongoing development and implementation of a global investment process for safeguarding immediate support applications 
  • Advise and support Member Associations (MAs)Regional Offices and funding associations along the process 
  • Ensure appropriate links to and alignment with related processes 
Provide guidance to MAs and Regional Offices on planning and designing safeguarding immediate support applications and coordinate investment agreements between MAs and funding associations 
  • Collaborate with relevant finance colleagues to ensure information flow regarding financial implications of the safeguarding immediate support investments 
  • Consult the International Office safeguarding colleagues as required 
Provide technical support, capacity building and trainings to MAs and regions 
 
 

Requirements 

  • University degree in a relevant subject, such as project management, finance, business management, social development or social sciences (Master's degree desirable) 
Essential:  
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management in an international NGO  
  • At least 3 years of experience in stakeholder management 
  • Experience in facilitating meetings, workshops or trainings 
  • Strong skills in driving processes and monitoring projects 
  • Experienced in working independently but proactively escalating emerging issues  
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and to collaborate virtually across different cultures 
  • Good analytical skills: Experienced in performing quantitative analyses in Excel 
  • Good skills in planning and organising 
  • Strong in decision taking 
  • Excellent command of English language skills (oral and written). Further languages (Spanish, German or French) are an asset  
  • Willingness to work in Innsbruck or Vienna (Austria) as working location  
  • A valid Austrian working permit or eligibility to work within the EU  
Desirable:  
  • NGO field work 
  • At least 3 years of experience in programme planning or programme investment 
  • Knowledge of SOS policies and processes and programme approach  
  • Basic knowledge of the SOS programme review process
