CHAI, in partnership with its India affiliate, William J. Clinton Foundation's (WJCF), has been working in India since 2004 in close partnership with and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the central and state levels on an array of high priority initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. Currently, CHAI/WJCF programs support government initiatives on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis-C, cancer, immunization, and health financing. Additionally, CHAI/WJCF supports many state governments on large-scale programs to arrest childhood and maternal mortality due to malnutrition, anaemia, diarrhoea and pneumonia, and helping increase access to quality family planning services.

 

CHAI India HIV & Syphilis team works closely with Ministry of Health (MoH) at the national and state level to address key gap areas in the management of HIV and congenital syphilis. This support includes improving access to essential diagnostic testing and treatment commodities; strengthening of health systems; improving data collection, management and utilization; and developing targeted strategies to improve patient outcomes. The team works closely with manufacturers, governments, and multilateral organizations to lower prices, increase and accelerate access to newer drugs & diagnostics for HIV and Syphilis.

 

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills to support CHAI India in its Congenital Syphilis program. The candidate must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence. Responsibilities
  • Support MoH on drugs & diagnostics related work streams (e.g., data-management, forecasting, new product introduction etc.)
  • Support MoH in drafting implementation plans and provide support related to costing strategic plans, assisting with surveys, etc.
  • Assist with the creation of operational systems to support interventions planned by MoH to achieve the elimination of mother to child transmission (EMTCT) of HIV and Syphilis by 2020 objective. This would include:
    • Developing a dashboard to map HIV and Syphilis testing landscape for Pregnant Women (PW)
    • Increasing access to HIV Syphilis Dual RDT test to improving testing coverage rates
    • Ensuring strong linkage between from between testing and treatment centers
    • Increasing sustainable access to Benzathine Penicillin G (BPG) for treatment of Syphilis
    • Supporting development of algorithms, guidelines, strategic & operational planning documents, costing models etc. to support roll out of the interventions
  • Build capacity on forecasting and quantification of drugs and diagnostic commodities in order to avoid stock-outs, reduce waste and minimize costs
  • Support MoH in the development and maintenance of high quality data management systems; Design and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to measure the impact of Syphilis testing and treatment
  • Liaise with CHAI's global teams regarding information about new diagnostic technologies and assist with in-country technical or operational evaluations or new product roll-out strategies to improve uptake of new diagnostics products as they become available
  • Disseminate information from CHAI and other sources on supply dynamics and access-to-drugs & diagnostics issues
  • Assist with budget and scenario analysis at the request of the MoH; help develop strategies to advocate for the changes with the MoH and/or partners
  • Provide assistance to the Manager for budgeting, forecasting, supply chain management, and overall health systems strengthening
  • Assist the team to build strong relationships with government representatives, suppliers and other key opinion leaders and partners
  • Provide operational support to the Manager to develop, plan, and implement multiple activities simultaneously
  • Develop work plans and budgetary projections for the program
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of work experience OR Master's degree with 1-3 years of work experience
  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills
  • Experience in conceiving, planning and executing programs or projects with verifiable results and little external support
  • Experience in composing high-quality briefs, proposals, technical reports, guidelines, SOPs is highly desirable
  • Experience developing and managing demanding work plans and tight budgets
  • High level of technical proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
  • Ability to think proactively and solve challenging problems without extensive structural or operational support
  • Able to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, both internally and externally
  • Excellent business-oriented verbal, visual and written communication skills
  • English language fluency, both written and verbal

Preferred:

  • Experience in working for a management consulting firm or investment bank
    MBA, MPH, MPP, MPA or equivalent
  • Demonstrated growth in responsibility in current or previous roles
