Overview of position
CTG is looking to contract an experienced Flight Planning Services professional, the incumbent is to perform the tasks as mentioned below.
Role objectives
The Flight Planning Services include but are not limited to the following:
  • Deliver services in support to all aviation planning & scheduling activities.
  • Draft flight planning in the most cost effective way.
  • Coordinate duties according to crew rest & duty time regulations of aircrew.
  • Provide expertise in tasking airframes considering type of aircraft, fuel capacity, capacity of landing sites, availability of refuelling facilities & contract / LOA flight hours & maintenance requirements & schedules.
  • Assist & provide advise coordination with contractors & military aviation units.
  • Keep records of planning for future missions.
  • Provide expertise in Liaising with MOVCON booking / cargo offices for passenger / cargo requirements / confirmation.
  • Verify that all requests are duly authorized by the required civilian or military authority & advise accordingly.
  • Provide expertise on the coordination with requestors make all necessary security arrangements for missions planned to destinations without presence of our clients troops on the ground.
  • Advise the type of aircraft, support facilities in place, over flight / landing clearances obtained.
  • Perform a systemic & systematic risk assessment of each & every flight, coordinate with requestors to obtain additional information in order to complete this risk assessment.
  • Advise & if feasible, the mitigations measures that shall be implemented in order to always develop the task exposing personnel & equipment to the lowest possible risk.
  • Draft the DFS & ATO to be submitted to Chief MAOC / air region for validation. Then, CAVO approval by 12 hrs daily, 1 working day prior to the execution date (on Fridays for the Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays DFS). Same applies for official UN holidays.
  • Publish the approved DFS.
As S / he may be tasked:
  • Notify the air operators & contractors about their following day’s flight schedule & brief the crew on the assigned task details.
  • Establish & keep the aircrew training logbook updated.
  • Report any change, action or outstanding event related to air operations.
  • Perform other tasks related to flight line activities.
Project reporting
This role reports to the Project Manager.
Key competencies - High school diploma & technical training in aviation related activities (Pilot, Air Traffic Control, Flight Dispatcher, Flight Information Officer), or graduation from equivalent military establishment or military / air traffic control training are required.
- Professional Pilot License (CPL, MEL, ATPL helicopter or fixed wing) is an advantage.
- At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in aviation, with at least 3 years in occupation directly related to air transportation or military operations or ATNS (Air Transport Navigation Service).
Team management
This role has no team management responsibility.
