CHAI’s global health workforce team seeks a short-term Analyst to support research and strategic planning for CHAI’s growing work in community health technical assistance. The Analyst will primarily support literature and desk reviews on key challenges in community health system performance, as well as opportunities, including promising models and interventions. The Analyst will have the opportunity to synthesize findings and support key milestones in the process of developing an organizational community health strategy.  

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about global health and has some familiarity with community health worker programs in particular. The ideal candidate also has strong desk research and communication skills, is self-motivated, and is capable of producing high quality products, including written documents and PowerPoint presentations.

 

The Analyst will have a flexible base location, but at least some overlap in working hours with East Coast US time zones will be essential. They should expect to work approximately 15 hours per week with flexible scheduling for a 6 week period. This is a paid position with hourly compensation. The preferred start date is as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Literature Review

  • Research key challenges affecting community health worker program performance and sustainability
  • Research key opportunities in improving community health worker program performance and sustainability, including case studies of successful programs and evidence substantiating potential interventions or approaches to consider
  • Clearly document and catalog priority resources reviewed in a project-specific resource library

Problem and Objectives Analysis, Dissemination and Engagement

  • Collaborate with manager and colleagues to refine a problem tree mapping key challenges and their inter-relationships
  • Collaborate with manager and colleagues to develop an objectives tree mapping potential pathways for strengthening the performance and sustainability of community health worker programs in CHAI program countries
  • Support the development of a PowerPoint presentation to disseminate key findings, recommendations, and next steps
  • Support the engagement of colleagues for input and feedback on problem and objectives analysis, including scheduling and facilitating consultation calls
  • Support facilitation of meetings or technical working group engagement with interim products as needed

Other

  • Support select literature review tasks on other health workforce projects if/as needed
  • Support manager with miscellaneous other activities as needed, including preparing meeting notes or attending relevant webinars
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in global health, public health, international development, or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience conducting desk research and literature reviews
  • Collaborative and able to support and engage multiple colleagues working remotely toward a shared goal
  • Analytical thinker: able to analyze complex problems, break them down into component parts, identify causes and effects, and consider implications for potential interventions
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

Plusses:

  • Masters in Public Health or related degree
  • Experience working in or familiarity with issues in community health
  • Familiarity or experience with: conducting a problem analysis, defining strategic objectives, and/or developing strategies
