Description 

The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. We are an international development organisation owned and governed by our 26 country and territory members. In pursuit of sustainable development to benefit Pacific people, our organisation works across more than 20 sectors. We are known for our knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. 

The vision of the Educational Quality and Assessment Programme (EQAP) is to bethe agency for educational quality in the Pacific region’. Its mission is to enhance the quality of education and training for Pacific learners so they realise the benefits of lifelong learning. The Pacific Regional Education Framework (PacREF) is a 12-year design agreed to by the Forum Education Ministers to direct education priorities across the region. EQAP, as one of the two regional institutions in the implementing partnership, has responsibility to lead the planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) of the PacREF. 

The Programme Assistant - PacREF will manage and monitor administrative responsibilities that contribute to successful achievement of outcomes under the PacREF, through direct support of professional services provided by the Professional Officers, the EQAP Director including the Principal Advisor.

Key selection criteria 

Qualifications

  • A relevant Diploma in Administration, Management, Business/Business studies, Communications, Office Management from a recognised tertiary institution 

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 3 years of experience working in the area of administration and/or management preferably in an area of education
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and synthesizing information for meaningful reporting 

Essential skills

  • Knowledge and competency of advanced information technology tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, power point presentations and databases
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a wide range of individuals in a multicultural environment 

Language skills

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) 

Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment

Salary, terms and conditions 

Contract Duration – Until 31 December 2024 

Remuneration – This is a full-time position at Band 6 in SPC’s 2021 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 1,846-2,308 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.

  1. Describe your skills and experience in working with information systems and managing data electronically.
