Main responsibilities

As Communication and Advocacy Officer you are responsible for communicating and advocating for, We Effect’s work in Palestine. The role involves independent, proactive operational and strategic communication aimed at increased brand awareness and knowledge of We Effects work among target audiences including donors, Government, the general public, etc. The purpose is to contribute to an increased and diversified funding base, visibility of our work and results, and to effective advocacy in the country and in Sweden. You have the responsibility to support staff and partner organisations with communication and advocacy activities. The role requires the ability to work autonomously and flexibility to ensure that all communication work is in line with the budget, strategies, regulations and project-specific requirements.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  •        Initiate and coordinate efforts to increase local/regional awareness of We Effect’s and partner organisations’ work.
  •        Provide guidance on branding requirements and reinforce application and consistency of We Effect communications brand policy across all internal and external products and materials.
  •        Actively work with the media and programmes team to promote We Effect Palestine visibility via media platforms.
  •        Review, update and implement the communication strategy for environmental justice and climate change program and the Equality first programme and general we effect communications.
  •        Periodically evaluate the communication and advocacy plans for the country office, systematically document experiences and lessons learned.
  •        Continuously produce publications, quarterly newsletters, success stories, case studies, results, testimonies, photos and films that highlight and explain We Effects programmes successes and contributions to target audiences, stakeholders and partners in accordance with We Effect guidelines.
  •        Support We Effect partner organizations to develop and implement communications and advocacy agenda/activities aligned with the country programmes.
  •        Support partner organizations in developing communication and advocacy messages/materials targeting the respective internal and external stakeholders
  •       Development and dissemination of integrated, aligned, well-targeted, measurable messages and communications and identify the needs for information material for targeted stakeholders including donors, Government, the general public, etc. and develop them following organizational policies
  •        Function as liaison to the head office Marketing and Media and Advocacy Departments, by collecting information from projects and provide support related to common campaigns, advocacy initiatives, and any other media publications as requested.
  •        Create and manage media platforms for We Effect Palestine that are in line with We Effect policy.
  •        Support capacity development of programme and project staff of We Effect in developing and collecting communication/ advocacy materials through training and mentoring programmes,
  •        Write up detailed reports, articles, news items, presentations or other documents as required by We Effect country director for information, publication, and lobbying purposes,
  •        Ensure quality assurance of reporting from ongoing projects and map out the communications and advocacy activities
  •        collaborate with the other staff both in programmatic as well as administrative and logistical matters.
  •       Develop a visibility plan for the Country Programme.
  •       Coordinate with communication staff at CO and HO regarding success stories and communication material from Palestine Country Office.
  •         Cooperate with communication staff at the CO, regional level and report to Country Director. 

 

Required qualifications.

  •      Degree in communication, journalism, media studies, public relations, marketing or related field.
  •      Be gender equality aware & sensitive
  •        Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience working with communications, public relations, marketing, events promotion, journalism trades, media or similar.
  •        Membership or affiliation to a relevant professional network.
  •        Experience working with communication for an INGO or similar.
  •        Experience adapting your communication for international target groups.
  •        Experience working with different media platforms, digital, social media, printed etc.
  •        Experience in photography and filming with smart phone.
  •        Good reporting skills and Proficient computer skills;
  •        Excellent computer skills and experience working with MS Office applications.
  •        Advanced written and spoken knowledge in professional English.
  •        Able and willing to travel and conduct field trips in West Bank and Gaza.
