Organizational Setting:

The main aim of the FAO Country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. The position is located in Kampala, Uganda.

Reporting Lines:

Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Uganda, the Reporting and Knowledge Management Specialist will provide technical and organizational support directly to the MEAL Specialist.

Technical Focus:

Programme/project reporting and knowledge management activities related to the implementation of the FAO Uganda’s Country Programming Framework

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the FAO Uganda on the programme planning, monitoring and reporting including Country Annual Reports;
  • Support project preparation, development of project proposals and concept notes including performance monitoring plans and monitoring and evaluation sections;
  • Organize, coordinate collection and use of MEAL data including graphs, photos and maps in drafting of reports in close collaboration with the MEAL unit evaluation missions for development projects, sectoral and thematic evaluations including desk evaluation/studies;
  • Ensure timely draft/edits/final submission of good quality project/programme reports and other ad-hoc reports for the FAO Representation in Uganda in accordance with FAO’s reporting and editorial guidelines, project/programme specific templates and or Government of Uganda/UN requirements.
  • Ensure regular physical verification of project equipment and assets management
  • Develop and support implementation of a knowledge management and capacity development strategy and implementation plan aligned with the outputs of FAO Uganda’s Country Programming Framework (CPF) and taking into account internal and external demand for knowledge on relevant programmes;
  • Provide results-based management (RBM) support to project staff and the FAO Country Office Management;
  • Monitor and ensure FAO web pages and UN, Inter-Agency and GoU platforms (e.g UNINFO, ReliefWeb, AMP) reflect accurate information, and contribute dynamic content and in close collaboration with the Communications Officer and MEAL unit.
  • Compile, analyse and disseminate FAO information products for internal and external audiences (e.g UNINFO, reports, briefs, charts, infographics, response highlights, advocacy materials), in collaboration with the Communications Officer and the Programme Support and Partnership (PSP) Unit.
  • Ensure dissemination of key lessons learned and good practices in collaboration with the MEAL unit and project/programme teams; establishes communities of practice in Uganda related to the FAO’s mandate and/or identifies existing networks and communities of practice and facilitates the active participation of FAO Uganda programme teams
  • Lead the design and implementation of knowledge management/sharing and learning events including through workshops, seminars, knowledge cafes, knowledge share fairs and written publications
  • Liaise with relevant team leads and field offices in developing knowledge products and in organizing learning platforms to promote the internal and external sharing of knowledge.
  • Develop, maintain and regularly update the country profile for FAO Uganda to include up-to-date content on agriculture, forestry, fisheries, livestock, resilience and food and nutrition security in collaboration with FAO Headquarters and project/programme teams in FAO Representation in Uganda.
  • Promote and supports UN system-wide knowledge management efforts in the context of the UN reforms
  • Perform any other related tasks

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • National of Uganda
  • Advanced university degree in journalism, media and communication, social sciences, international development or a related field
  • Minimum Five (5) years of relevant experience in reporting, knowledge management and capacity development
  • Working knowledge of English
