SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility we are now looking for a committed:

 

Children’s Villages International Representative (International Office Asia)

 

Mission

Act as a link between the GSC and assigned Member Associations (MAs), to ensure that there is positive interaction and collaboration with MAs in all areas of work including organisational development and good governance. Strengthen and maintain affiliation of assigned Member Associations to the federation by communicating developments across the federation and vice versa. Ensure right steps for brand awareness of SOS work with an objective to support fund raising for SOS work in assigned MAs. Besides this, monitor the implementation of policies, guidelines, standards and tools in collaboration with Regional Head of Functions. He/ She will report to the ‘Deputy COO – Asia & IDR- Asia’.

 

Location:

Region Office Asia or Asian MAs where SOS Children’s Villages is located.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Governance Development

  • Support development of boards and building strong governance & operational structure in assigned MAs to enable them to deliver in accordance to Vision, Mission and Values of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with assigned MAs in developing their local strategies and monitor implementation.
  • Provide input to the performance of the assigned Member Associations’ National Directors.
  • Provide effective information flow to funding partners and other stakeholders.
  • Strengthen and maintain partnership relations with the local governments (where we work under agreement with the government) by having a good understanding of the local culture to ensure a win-win situation.

 

Fund Raising

  • Encourage MA for local funraising and suggest steps for brand awareness of SOS work.
  • Monitor results in collaborative approach with regional FDC function. Advocate timely course correction on an on-going basis.

 

Strategic Planning & Budgeting

  • Strategise, influence and implement the strategic goals of the organisation
  • Be the negotiation partner in the assigned MAs, representing the federation by keeping a good balance between Organisational needs and MAs local realties/culture.
  • Oversee assigned MAs planning and budgeting process.
  • Ensure integration of the global and regional fund raising strategic plan with local plans of the assigned MAs.
  • Agree on GSC support in the strategic and annual planning process dialogue.
  • Act as a bridge bringing the interests of all stakeholders (MA, PSAa and GSC) together

 

Monitoring & Evaluation of the MAs

  • Review the progress in assigned MAs in the course of the annual review cycle.
  • Oversee the implementation of policies, guidelines, standards and tools in assigned MAs.
  • Be the first point of regional contact for assigned MAs for crisis interventions. Ensure cases are reliably reported according to the standards of international crisis communications guidelines.
  • Ensure protection of Brand
  • Ensure implementation of programme Quality Care standards and safeguarding standards in all dimensions such as Children; Employees; Prevetion of Sexual Harassment.

 

Requirements

Qualification & Experience:

  • Post Graduate in any stream. MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Total minimum work experience of 15 years with minimum 6 years of experience at a management level of handling boards.
  • Good hands on experience of Asian culture, regulations and sensitivities involved while handling various stakeholders such as MAs, governments and senior co-workers.
  • Good hands-on experience of People management.
  • Fair understanding of organisational legal structures.
  • Knowledge in dealing with ministries in Asia.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder management from different Asian cultural background.
  • Strategic bent of mind and future oriented into operational and fundraising planning.
  • Ability to do critical analysis and integrate information.

 

Essential Values, Behaviours and Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to use the right tone to get message across. Knowledge of any other Asian language will be an added advantage.
  • High interpersonal skills and team oriented. Ability to build strong relationships/networks and cooperate effectively in a spirit of partnership with peers, partners, stakeholders, local government and all others.
  • Ability to show leadership and influence the other in non-hierarchical relationship
  • Open to travel as and when required
