THE ASSIGNMENT

The aim of this assignment is to provide a textbook to support the integration of regulatory and fiscal issues in the response to non-communicable diseases in regional and national legal and public health training curricula in South Asia (Sri Lanka and Bangladesh).

Under the general supervision of the Program Lead, Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme (Global RECAP), the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator, and in close collaboration with the Health Law team, the Researcher will perform the following duties and produce a series of staged deliverables between February 2021 and April 2021:

1.        Produce a workplan for the work to be undertaken and a preliminary outline of the textbook.

2.       Conduct desk research and draft the textbook. Revise the draft based on the comments and suggestions from IDLO and the expert peer reviewers.

3.       Finalize the textbook based on the comments from the expert peer reviewers and IDLO.

4.       In coordination with IDLO, develop a dissemination plan for the textbook in South Asia universities, including recommendations for further teaching aids to complement the textbook.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education and Work Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Law and a post-graduate degree in Law, Public Health, International Relations, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in law and public health;
  • Proven academic track record, including in researching and writing.

 Technical competencies

  • Demonstrated knowledge of public health challenges in South Asia;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory measures to promote healthy diets and physical activity.

REMUNERATION

Total remuneration for the assignment will be seven thousand five hundred Euros (EUR 7,500.00).  Payment will be made by installment based on the satisfactory completion of the agreed work. The cost of travel and accommodation to participate in the regional colloquium will be covered by IDLO. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
