OHCHR oPt is a country office of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. The office was established in 1996 and it implements the global mandate of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to promote and protect the full enjoyment of human rights by all, without discrimination. The office has approximately 50 staff with a main office in Ramallah, sub-office in Gaza and field presences in East Jerusalem and Hebron. 
 
The position of ICT Support Assistant aims to support the OHCHR under the overall guidance of the Head of Office or his/her delegate and the direct supervision of the National Operations Manager to facilitate and organize the daily work of the ICT services; and to identify the proper solutions that will enhance the ICT performance tools in the organization. 
 

 

The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territory (OHCHR-oPt) is seeking to contract an ICT Support Assistant on 50% part-time basis for an initial period of eleven months. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Administration of ICT infrastructure and equipment (servers, printers, routers, computers, video projectors,  access control system, video surveillance systems, etc.) in order to ensure their optimal functioning and compliance with policies, procedures and specifications established by OHCHR headquarters. 

•Ensure that the organization's information systems and infrastructure are protected in accordance with OHCHR information security policy, procedures and standards
•Maintain accessibility and ease of use of OneDrive for business and Skype for Business of all staff.
•Review and monitor the analysis of trends in recorded problems / requests and transmit the identified basic problems to relevant external IT providers, or as required to headquarters
•Oversee the installation, upgrade and configuration of network printers, directory structures, user access, and security software and file services
•Ensure the availability and functioning of communication and connectivity tools (internet, email, telephone)
 
2.User support (Helpdesk) 
 
•Provide internal training or assistance to staff on the use of IT equipment and programs (MS Office, OWNCLOUD, UMOJA, INSPIRA, INTRANET etc.)
•Provide standard support for mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptops;
•Administer and maintain the local server (domain controller, file server, print server, DHCP server etc.) of the Center;
•Facilitate the preparation of videoconferences and other collaborative activities. Provide support during meetings / teleconferences / videoconferences (installation of IT equipment, etc.)
•Ensure rapid resolution of failures and escalation requests from end users.
 
3.Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

IT Customer Support

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Completion of secondary school is required.  Bachelor degree in information technology (IT) is desirable.  
 
Experience:
•Minimum five years of professional relevant experience in ICT is required, including ICT experience within the United Nations system.
•Good knowledge of LAN and TCP / IP network, Windows 10 systems and Microsoft Active Directory (Windows 10 Server environment) is required 
•Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint) and network administration tools is required 
•Good knowledge of computer security including the firewall system and virus protection with Symantec programs is required 
•Good knowledge of messaging systems (configuration and problem solving of Outlook clients) is desirable 
•Ability to analyse and correct problems is desirable
•Ability to write technical documentation is desirable 
 
Language Requirements:
Fluency in both Arabic and English languages (written and spoken)
