Overview of position
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator in Kabul & overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the Counter Trafficking Assistant will be responsible for supporting Counter Trafficking (CT) project implementation in Afghanistan.
Role objectives
Programme implementation:
  • Provide support to the implementation of all project activities of the CT unit.
  • Assist in arranging workshops & trainings, including the development of agenda, identification of appropriate participants, translation of documents & logistics.
  • Conduct M&E & provide regular written reports of our clients partner’s activities.
  • Assist in the development, improvement & extension of CT IMD (database applications), including national TIP online database, our clients CT M&E database & CT hotline data tracking system.
  • Review existing systems, procedures & if necessary, recommend possible improvements to strengthen internal M&E & control systems in CTIP & improve efficiency & effectiveness.
Planning & reporting:
  • Assist with compilation of information for narrative & financial reports to donors & other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the financial status of all CT activities & projects in Afghanistan & regularly report on the same & report variances between budget & actual expenditures.
  • Provide administrative support, including filing, setting up meeting, taking notes, making photocopies, ordering supplies etc.
  • Provide logistical support & coordination of travel & events, including field visits, meetings, training & conferences.
Coordination & representation:
  • Create & maintain an electronic database of program counterparts, including govt. officials, CBO's & international organisations in Afghanistan.
  • Liaise with other agencies / NGOs / govt. bodies & UN agencies to ensure coordination, implementation of common standards in the field & consideration of CT issues in assistance program.
  • In coordination with other relevant actors, advocate for humanitarian access & advocate with govt. to assist any urgent CT needs.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Project reporting
This role works under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator in Kabul & overall supervision of the Chief of Mission.
Key competencies - University Degree in Law, Criminology, International Relations or other relevant Sciences, sound knowledge of Human Trafficking, Organized Crime & related issues.
- Experience in CT work with international or local organization preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of English & Dari, good communication & interpersonal skills, excellent drafting, analytical & managerial skills. Knowledge of other local language(s) is an advantage.

- Reporting & writing skills, strong IT skills, excellent communication & negotiations skills, M&E skills, drive for result.
- Knowledge of using data collection through KOBO.
Team management
This role has no team management responsibility.
