The Senior Communications Assistant is normally supervised by a Communication Officer or other position as decided by the senior management in the area of responsibility. The supervisor provides the incumbent with regular guidance. The incumbent will have frequent contacts involving the exchange of a wide range of information with colleagues within UNHCR as well as media, international organizations, academic institutions and private individuals.

Duties
Regularly monitor media and local situation regarding UNHCR.
Follow-up on administrative and logistical arrangements to organise press briefings and other events, such as workshop and conferences.
Contribute to the production of information materials for public awareness campaigns and for the preparation of in-house bulletins, newsletters and information kits by contributing to articles, reports and other information gathered from various sources.
Liaise with printers concerning brochures and publications published by the office.
Draft routine correspondence and texts for the office's website and maintain information databases.
Compile and distribute a daily news clipping service.
Distribute press statements and similar information to media, to other offices locally as well as to Headquarters.
Maintain up-to-date filing system and appointments diary.
Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Years of Experience / Degree Level
For G5 - 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher

======================================================================================================== The Centre Management Section (CMS) headed by the Chief of Section, provides administrative support and oversight to some 250 staff and AWF based in Copenhagen Global Services Centre (CGSC) through its main sub-units as follows:

1. Human Resources Unit
2. Travel Unit
3. Finance Unit
4. Admin Unit
5. Information Communication Technology Unit

The Senior Communication Assistant position will be reporting to the Chief of Section. The incumbent will provide the Communication function to both CMS internally as well as all other entities within UNHCR CGSC, with the main objective of strengthening internal communication. In addition, the incumbent will also represent UNHCR in the UN City Inter-Agency Communications Group (UNICG) and ensure smooth communication with all external counterparts within UNCITY, as well as any other entity on all external communication activities focusing and representing the CGSC, whereas the RRNE is primarily responsible to ensure external communication function within Denmark as part of its overall programmatic activities related to PoC in Denmark. The UNICG includes communication focal points from all of the 11 UN agencies present in UNCITY, and coordinates, plans, and executes joint internal and external physical as well as digital communications activities.

The selected candidate will get hands-on internal communications and engagement experience and work in a multicultural team with colleagues from all over the world.
