UNDP has been active in Tajikistan since 1994 and has supported the Government and people of Tajikistan through delivery of programmes focused on poverty reduction, economic development, governance, human rights and rule of law, environmental protection, climate change and DRR. UNDP provides upstream policy support and community-based development to marginalized rural populations with the aim of addressing Inequalities of opportunities and promoting more effective, equitable and sustainable development. UNDP delivers on its programme through its presence in Dushanbe and at sub-national level in four (4) locations, namely Bokhtar. Gharm, Kulyab and Khujand. This sub-national presence has enabled a long-standing partnerships with the local governments (oblast, district and Jamoat levels) and enhanced UNDP’s strategic positioning, coordination and sustainability of results.

UNDP’s Local Implementation and Innovation Centers (LIIC) are geared towards the delivery of three key functions: Project Implementation Function, Monitoring and Evaluation and Partnership, Advocacy and Innovation which are in line with UNDP’s strategic vision at global ad country level, and to the #NextGenUNDP corporate approach.

Under the overall guidance and supervision of UNDP Gharm LIIC Area Manager and the direct supervision of the Administrative and Finance Associate, the Diver assists in the effective and efficient management of the project providing transportation support, apples and promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Driver of UNDP’s Local Implementation and Innovation Centers (LIIC) will be responsible for carrying out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of correspondence, supplies and other items.
  • Drive staff and officials to and from the airport and facilitates immigration and custom formalities as required.
  • Drive office vehicles on official missions to other UNDP offices and any location inside and outside Tajikistan as required.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the assigned vehicle, including daily checking of oil, water, battery, tires, etc., perform minor repairs and notify the Logistics Assistant in need of other repairs and regular maintenance service. Keep the vehicle clean and presentable at all time.
  • Maintain daily logs of official trips, including daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil and filter change, etc.
  • Adhere at all times to national traffic regulations, put safety of passengers first and ensure that all steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of accident.
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts
  • Maintain radio contact at all times when on duty.
  • Provide logistical support to Programme activities as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Secondary education and valid driving license of B and C categories.
  • Diploma or certificate in automotive mechanics is a strong asset.

Experience:

  • At least two years of previous experience in working for international or national organizations as a driver.
  • High sense of responsibility, reliability, maturity and team spirit are important assets.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Affinity with the mandate and role of the United Nations.

Language Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of Russian and Tajik.
  • Basic English is an asset.
