Monitoring and Evaluation officer

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Emergency specialist Humanitarian Cash Transfer, the International UN Youth Volunteer is expected to provide support in the below activities:

  • Data Collection
    • Perform regular quality assurance procedures on data collected by partners
    • Troubleshoot data collection problems with UNICEF Cash Partners
    • Support in the development of tools for data collection using KoBo Toolbox solutions
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Ensure the synchronization, maintenance and backup of consolidated databases
    • Analysing the available data to conduct operational programme review
    • Produce relevant fact sheet and monthly briefs on the implementation of UNICEF CAR HCT Programmes
    • Develop reporting frameworks and dashboards for programs
  • Capacity building
    • Train partners on the use of UNICEF developed tools (KoBo and HOPE)
    • Participate in data collection missions with partners
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • University degree in the field of humanitarian action, social protection, international relations, social sciences monitoring with a demonstrated strong component in analytical tools and/or database management
Required experience: 12 Months Experience remark:
  • strong component in analytical tools and/or database management
  • Experience in using mobile data collection applications such as the OpenDataKit (ODK) suite and in programming forms.
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis software such as Ms Access and Excel, MySQL, Stata, R, PoweBi, Python or Tableau
  • Experience in using online application services is a plus
  • Knowledge of mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth) is a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of Cash Transfer Programming is a plus
  • Creative and flexible in finding technical solutions for data collection, consolidation, analysis and management
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French is required , and knowledge of English is an asset;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Demonstrated data analysis and research skills
Language skills:
  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
